We have to warn you about something really important. You noticed that weeks ago we published a video about our OpenGl modifications. They enhanced the whole game isn't it ?
Truth is, someone playing on a 64bits OS with Nvidia graphics doesn't support it. Worse, it gives to the game an awful render and we don't want to see that.
You both know that the OpenGL enhancement represents for us a great opportunity. It was a sort of proof. Ten years later, Homeworld2 can be upgraded. Can you believe that ? We believed only slow computers weren't able to run it but that's wrong. Both Nvidia users on 64Bits OS can't.
Deleting OpenGL ?
We weren't thinking about it... But time has come. We both know that Nvidia represents more than 50% of graphics production in the world. We don't want this number to represents the amount of people who will submit a ticket in our website, saying: "Why my game is awful as hell ?".
Therefore, the first release of Mass Effect Reborn (We will try to correct it for our other mods) won't use the OpenGL enhancements we've made. However we may add it as a "Bonus content". The later can be activated by the player itself before running the mod.
Differences between OpenGL and 2.0 shaders plus ALD ?
2.0 Shaders and Advanced Light Design enable our team to work with Bump mapping possibilities and advanced lighting possibilities. In that sense, we can force the game to look realistic but the bloom realism, made with OpenGL won't be preserved. Only our ALD shaders will force the game to have a sort of bloom.
