Star Wars: The New Era was the first large Star Wars modification attempt made on Source Engine. It was produced by Invision Games, a group of over 60 modders and Star Wars fans that have evolved from the Movie Battles 2 community and a mod team working on "Star Wars: Source" before. Star Wars: The New Era was supposed to become a class-based multiplayer experience featuring objective-based scenarios. The project was abandoned in 2013 after all of the remaining team members dropped due to time constraints after starting to study or working in the industry. Initially, the latest state of the mod was planned to be released under Creative Commons license to allow the community to continue the work. Unfortunately, getting in contact with many former team members in order to open-source their work did not work out, so the decision was made not to release any assets without express permit by the respective authors.

The video quality doesn't do your work justice! My only whim is that the fire on that snowy map (from Revenge of the Sith, I just can't remember the name) floats directly above snow; it should have something flammable below it.

It's actually ash, not snow - but I get your point :)

It looks really good!

I find it a lot better than the past Star Wars games that have been thrown out by LucasArts.

Agreed. The Mygeeto map looks much better than the one I think it's based on.. It is based on the Battlefront II map, right?

I hope there will be a single player campagin. Yes, I know - multiplayer is fun, and it's easier to make this mode - simply you do not need a scenario, NPCs etc. But it's nice when independent group working on multi and single mode. Anyway - good luck!

It's currently on hold since we required a game engine with rather unusual properties. Unfortunately, our target engine seems to be turning into vaporware, so we wait ;)

Everyone would love to beta test this, myself included.

Great video, great work. I especially liked the N-1 Starfighters. The reflections and such on them are just perfect.

Speaking of which... Will vehicles be driveable/flyable by any chance?

Not in the current state of development. The idea keeps floating around for another game mode that is being discussed, but what I can say for sure: definately not in the first release.
More about our actual gameplay still to come.

No. We actually decided to abandon that concept like a year after we started. There were some conflicts with a few MB2 team members which led us to do our own thing. In the end, this seemed to be the best decision, since it allowed us a little more creative freedom.

Totally forgot to upload this to ModDB ;)
This reel shows you some of our (WIP) settings in an atmospheric trailer. Don't be surprised about the ending though - since this is a general showreel of our team, there is another project featured as well.
