Star Wars: Interregnum is an upcoming mod for Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion that builds off of the highly successful Enhanced 4X Mod. Fleeing the unknown terror that is chasing the Vasari, the factions of Sins of a Solar Empire stumble on a temporary wormhole that takes them to a galaxy far, far away. The sudden arrival of armadas with trillions of refugees and thousands of warships between the events of Episodes 5 & 6 forever alters the Star Wars universe and plunges the galaxy into an unprecedented period of chaos and violence. Begun, a new conflict has.
One of the major goals of Interregnum is to make the game world feel as much like the Star Wars universe as possible. Sadly this goal has did not receive much attention in the first Alpha, and admittedly adding new factions will be the major goal for the foreseeable future. However, alpha 2 will begin to add content to meet this objective, starting with the Legendary Katana Fleet.
The Katana Fleet was a large, pre-Clone Wars fleet of the Galactic Republic made entirely of Dreadnaught class Heavy Cruiser. The fleet was the first widespread usage of slave rigging automation, which greatly reduced the crew size needed by the Dreadnaughts and allowed the flagship, the Katana, to remotely control any of the others.
Unfortunately for the fleet, an outbreak of a rare disease infected the crew, causing an outbreak of madness. This apparently caused the captain of the Katana to order the fleet to jump to a random location, and the disease killed all the crewmen during the hyperspace jump. To this day, treasure hunters, profiteers and would be galactic conquerors have tried many attempts at finding the lost Katana Fleet, apparently with no success.
In Interregnum, the Katana Fleet has a chance to spawn at most non-colonizeable gravity wells. These dozen Dreadnaughts can be an incredible asset early in the game, and can be captured by colony or scout frigates like any other captureable object. Once captured, the special debuffs on the Dreadnaught will disappear, giving you full control of the vessel.
Smaller numbers of dreadnaughts can also be found accumulated at ship graveyards.
oh... nice...
wait, spawn at the non-colonizeable gravity wells... means that early game is very crucial... of course gas planet have a chance got this dreadnaught...
Yeah, if you notice them on a non-colonizeable planet your scouts discover, you definitely want to send something over their immediately to capture them. Just like the novel Dark Force Rising which this is based on, its a race to recover the Katana fleet and the winner will be in an excellent position to defeat their enemies.
sooo nice man
Iv never heard of the Katana fleet before.... but now that I have, they sound awesome! Specially what you are doing with them :) Seem a bit like the Legion of the Dammed in 40K... but yer, look forward to seeing this event in the game :D
It first appeared in the Thrawn Trilogy, probably the most famous and most influential Star Wars novels ever written. If you are going to read any of the expanded universe stuff (or "Legends", as they are calling it now), I would recommend picking it up.
Ah I will, thank you :) Always wanted some one to point out some good Star wars books to me, il start looking for them!
If destroyed, will they respawn overtime, given that a dozen of them would only be small part of the whole katana fleet.
No, for balance reasons I think putting all 150+ of them would be a bit extreme. :p They can spawn in more than one location though.
