It may seem odd that a mod for a game without a campaign has its own lore and story, especially one that tries to combine factions from two Sci-fi universes with a result that is inherently non-canon to both. Yet I'd like to think Star Wars: Interregnum pulls it off, if for no other reason that the lore helps explain why certain gameplay decisions were made from an in universe point of view.

In a nutshell, Interregnum's universe is identical to the "Legends" Star Wars universe until Episode 6, when the first wave of Sins factions flee through a temporary wormhole to escape the terror that is chasing the Vasari. Once in the Star Wars universe, things begin to change dramatically; Emperor Palpatine is killed at Endor but Darth Vader lives; the New Republic is created far earlier and co-exists with the Rebel Alliance; and the Rebellion races find themselves making new alliances and adapting to their new universe. The entire lore is set within a 5 year period, starting in 4 ABY, the year of the Battle of Endor, to 9 ABY, which is when the mod canonically "starts" and you, the player, enter to lead your chosen faction. As such, how the story ends is up to you.

The main political history of the mod, if you will, is told via a series of "Timeline" News Article, which go over the major events chronologically as the universe becomes what you, the player, will encounter in the final version of the mod. Beyond that, a handful of image descriptions, other news articles and forum posts have given extra lore details on specific topics, the best of which have been listed here for easy access.
