I did about 4 or 5 test bakes to see how low I could get the poly count without the model looking too blocky/crappy looking, this was best for how I wanted it to look, plus game engines can handle a lot more these days :)
I realize they can handle more, but optimization is always key. Reducing budget on background things like this leaves room for more detail on more important thing in the scene.
