Welcome to the Tides of War mod page! This mod will attempt to recreate the epic battles from the movies that we have known and loved as well as creating a new fighting experience.
This mod features: 16+ new maps, plus a couple new modes, vastly improved AI, dozens of new characters, weapons and vehicles, a new shell and ingame.lvl, 18 campaign missions and brand new combat dynamics.

Greetings people of Moddb. As you know, for the past month we've been running a contest to decide a couple of map entries for Tides of War. We recieved a total of 29 entries for this competition, more than we ever thought we would recieve. Thank you to all who participated, please know that if we could, we would turn every one of these ideas into a map. However, we had to choose our two winners. Congratulations to our victors, evengidb and AUS_Doug! Their three ideas will be made into two maps, with one map being a combination of two of them. The winning ideas are:

Thank you. Yes, we spent some time working on the name earlier today. I'm sorry I haven't been posting any updates, this mod is not dead, in fact, it's quite the contrary, we've been working so hard on this mod we haven't had any time to post any updates! XD

Anyways, I'm still working on the lightsaber combos. I finally have a set standard of how the system will work. Basically, they can't knock people over any more. Also, all standard lightsaber attacks will be able to deflect blaster bolts and other lightsabers attacks. However, there are several weak spots in every Jedi's combo, so you'll need to find out what Jedi/Sith suits your style.

Normal lightsaber deflection has been changed as well. Now, your standard lightsaber block can deflect from all directions, and you don't lose energy from deflecting. Unfortunately, you can't move while performing this action. This is an excellent tactic to use if you need to charge up your energy for a powerful attack, but you don't want to be left vulnerable to enemy blows. Just be careful though; if you perform this action, you'll be even more vulnerable to AOE weapons, like a grenade or a mortar launcher.

Jump attacks will be one of the most interesting attacks in the mod. They aren't much more powerful than normal attacks, but if you perform it right, you can break someone's lightsaber block. Use this when your enemy is using standard deflection, and you need some way to break his block. Also, a jump attack is capable of knocking over an opponent. But beware, a poorly performed jump attack will only result in a quick defeat, as was seen in ROTS.

I'm going to use a math.random function for the Rebels on some maps. Here on Coruscant the models of the regular trooper will change every minute you spawn, they will alternate between the Urban Rebel Trooper, a gungan and a rodian. I know some of you OT fans will be upset about the gungan but tbh the alliance isn't as racist as the empire, the did have species such as gungans.

While the rebels did have gungans in their army, there weren't that many of them. Besides, gungans used a different array of weapons. They used an atlatl or a stun spear in combat.

If you've often played as a sniper in SWBF2, you would know that sometimes, headshots don't seem to work. I've been able to fix this bug by adding a tiny little explosion to the sniper rifle's ordnance. It doesn't do any damage, and it only knocks an enemy over when they're already dead. I like the new push effect, it really makes it seem like the guy is actually dying. I can send it to you if you like. To use it , simply add the function "ExplosionImpact" to your ordnance file and then set the name of the explosion file.

Also, I have a question. I've noticed that in some turrets, mainly the concussion cannons on Kashyyyk, headshots don't work. Would you be able to fix the bug?

Gungans in the alliance army used the same types of weapons that everyone else did, also this is one "legion" of the alliance, not all of them, in fact, none of the other legions will feature gungans, gungans will be one of the mshs the rebel urban legion will use. I probably won't be able to fix that bug because most stuff relating to headshots is hardcoded.

Alright guys. I know I've been busy working on another mod, but I can assure you I am still part of this project. Belderone will be epic, as I have just downloaded Mudbox, and will be sculpting the canyon walls around the map. Glad to see this topic's finally gotten some notice!
