A new mod was released for Galactic Civilizations 2, which is one of the best turn based strategy games to come out lately. The MOD is called Star Trek Vs. Star Wars. It features all the major races and starships from the Star Trek series and the Star Wars movies. If you have ever wondered who would control the Galaxy with a war of Star Trek and Star Wars races then this is the mod for you. Please note: you need the Twilight Arnor expansion pack to play this mod. Very nice, I'm still trying to find that cause for "out of memory".
Iv crossed a few things off the list. I thought it may have been the "force AI to use full CPU" but nope, both Immense and gigantic map sizes get the error.

I think it mabye be with all the ship variations that you get with new techs... every tech i get is giving me about 4 new ship classes, and the AI will use them all, saving that much data may be causing it as it only happens on autosaves.

Hey thanks for your help, I appreciate it. And I agree with your conclusion with the "out of memory error", I guess to test that someone could just use the default ship styles from the original game and see if the error still happens.

ok tested your idea, i modded a game so that the default ships were used by the races in the mod... so far iv go alot further than before and had no crashes.

i think the solution for you is to just give a base ship design for each class of ship (each model). The AI will upgrade it as needed, same as the base game. So for example have all the ship models used and under thier respective classes in game, but let the AI upgrade and use them itself. Thats what the vanilla game does.

That should in theory fix the error, you could release it as a hotfix... i may even be able to do it myself if you dont have the time.

dot for get, this is a THEORY, and like a biscut raft sometimes theorys tend to crumble and sink.

I think I know what you are talking about and it sounds like a good idea. I have been pretty busy lately, so ya if you are able to do it by yourself, go for it. Thanks for the help. :)
