you guys should add distant stars planets in this mod! then you can have a real sol system for maps, it would go far for the immersion. I don't really care about forest, urban, toxic, etc planets but the solar system planets.

A Distant Stars merger would guarantee a 2 gig dump. Unfortunately we had to remove the Volumetric Explosions mod yet again, and we had to reduce the resolution of some of the models because of that very same issue. Sins seems to be very unforgiving as far as how much detail it wants you to add to the game. There is barely enough room for the vanilla stuff (Diplomacy uses 1.8 gigs at game startup). Plus vanilla sins has a memory leak (should say leaks) that are fixed with the Sins Optimization Project (another project of mine). The Optimization project is being fully incorporated into SoA 2.

Free time willing SoA 2 will have its own planets and skybox's

At the top youve got a picture of the galaxy, to me it looks bumpped/normal mapped, from my experiences, it makes ships look awful, in star trek, when they are bump mapped, because they have windows. It may just be the texture, but yeah, it looks weird to me, but that is like the only thing, that ive found that i dont like :)

You are the exception. Though i do agree with you. I liked the smooth season one thru three galaxy myself. However, most like the season four thru six "bumpy" galaxy, and would have an absolute fit if i smoothed it (you know how trek fans get). I have not had any free time to make new bump maps for the ships that "shouldnt" be so bumpy. Right now they have quick, and dirty bump maps. The bad thing about having only one artist on the team :/

The balance is being totally re-worked as the mod is being totally rebuilt yet again to deal with the sins 2 gig crash issue, and lag in late game.

The 0.5 series will have 1/2 scale units to deal with the ships flying outside of the wells. Weapon ranges will be changed to help with this issue as well.

The Borg will be completely worked over. They arent finished which is why the AI doesnt work well for them. Most units will be buffed, but some units like the unicomplex may get a nerf. The Anti Structure roletype units in the mod are actually "Anti Borg" units. Their weapons are, or will be tuned to specifically fight Borg. The borg will be balanced vs all four other factions COMBINED. The intended MP game is the four factions vs one AI Borg player. In order to force alliances, or you can try to defeat them solo, but it will be tough. As it should be.

The fed starbase was built with a full interior. Sins doesnt support animations so we left the doors open. We are keeping it that way.

Full interior? I don't remember it being completely hollow in the shows; didn't the hangar have walls?

sorry for not getting it until now and another thing.....i love the mod but please work on the massive lag it makes when the game progresses it just gets worse and worse because of all the buildings.

About the Federation Starbases: the big hangar door thing doesn't have any walls, so if you look at it from the wrong angle you can see the hollow inside of the Starbase. Other than that the models look amazing.

I think you have completely mischaracterized the balance of power between the Federation and the Borg. Have you ever gone up against a Borg Uniplex before? Hmmm, yeahhh... We are talking several hundred thousand hp with the firepower of about 3 Romulan star bases combined. So, either what your talking about is an imbalance between the Borg and other races at the outset, or you are just wacko. Also, my bro and I attempted to take out a Borg Uniplex with two fully upgraded Romulan fleets of DDrex warbirds. Both fleets died in about a minute and a half.

the problem is ive never seen borg ai bulidng an unikomplex ^^
thats why the federation ai can kill the borg they wont build unicomplex
second with a fleet of akiaras you can kill every builidng ^^ a normal starbase is down within seconds a unicomplex need a little bit longer (most of your ships die but hey unicomplex is down ^^)
