Sacrifice of Angels 2 is a continuation, and tribute to the original Sacrifice of Angels mod for Homeworld. SoA 2 uses many assets created for the original SoA mod by the Trekmods team. Along with new content. SoA 2 is being developed by the remaining members of the Trekmods team. Along with Digital Underground (The makers of bridge commanders MPMP mod, and Nexus: The Jupiter Incident's ST: Age of War mod). Plus Third Party contributions by the finest artist from the Star Trek modding community.

The original SoA mod for Homeworld, was set during the First Dominion War Using both canon, and non-canon units to recreate those battles.

SoA 2 simulates a non-canon "Second Dominion War" that escalates into a galactic total war when the Borg return. Using Sins of a Solar Empires RT4X method of "empire building" to enhance your Star Trek experience.

(Note: SoA 2 lore is subject to change. it is still a WIP )

Can anyone remember when we used to be explorers? - Jean Luc Picard
15  years have past since the first Dominion War. Voyager has since returned home, and the Borg threat seems to have been eliminated. The Romulan people have firm control of their government once again. The Reman population has been emancipated, and are now enjoying privilages as full citizens of the Romulan empire. The lessons of Shinzon have been learned.

The Federation for the first time in decades enjoyed peace. Still rebuilding, and wary from previous conflicts Starfleet remains vigalant. Especially with new turns of events.

Chanceller Martok of the Klingon Empire has "dissapeared" No one knows the fate of the empires benevolent Chancellor. Many belive he was murdered, A succesor named Kodan has stepped up to take his place. He is as xenophobic as he is bloodthirsty. He calls himself the new "Emperor". Dismissing Khaless as a fraud. Kodan has a following of many "Glory seekers" that practice ways from the old times. He rules with an "iron fist" compared to Klingon standards. Kodan reminds some within the empire of the Tyrant Molar. Some within the empire call Kodan the "Usurper", but wont say so out loud, because those that do wont live very long afterwards. They await one with the courage, and honor of Khaless to challange him. Relations with the Federation are not too cozy right now.

The Romulan Empire has reverted back to its old ways of isolationonism, and subterfuge. Though the Romulan Empire retained some "good" relations with the Federation since the events of Shinzon. Trade, and commerce have thrived, and there was a time where it was thought that the neutral zone would become a thing of the past. However that has changed. There are those who still believe in the old imperial "manifest destiny". Where the Romulan people think that only the Rihansu are worthy enough to rule the galaxy, and all non-Rihansu are nothing more than subject races beneith them to be exploited.

The Dominion have maintained peacefull if cool relations with the other factions since the first war. They still remain bitter at their defeat, and surrender. Animosity runs rampant within the Founders despite Odos re-assurances that the "Solids" can be trusted. Odo realized too late that the Founders truly did not want peace, and the surrender was a ploy to buy time to rebuild their forces, and plan a strategy for a new invasion. All of the peacefull overtures made by the Dominion were a ruse to provide a false sense of security. Odo now part of the great link could do nothing. He was effectively silenced as was part of the Founders plan.

With the help of their old Breen allies the Dominion broke the peace treaty of 2373, and stormed through the wormhole with a vengeance. Reconquering Cardassia, and Bajor. They launched a three pronged assault on the three major Alpha Quadrant powers. Just as before the Founders are intent on total domination of "the solids". This time there may be no stopping them.

The Breen went out of their way to re-join their old allies, and spearheaded the initial assault with hundreds of cruisers warping in just as the Dominion main assault fleets exited the wormhole. Deep Space Nine despite her powerful upgrades, and garrison fleet was destroyed in minutes. The wormhole is now under total Dominion control. With endless re-enforcements pouring through. Cardassia, and Bajor are now enslaved worlds. The Cardassians that survived the new invasion are now used by the Dominion as "battle thralls" as punishment for their past betrayal. It is a slow death sentence imposed by the Founders. Cardassian ships are forced to spearhead suicide missions, or provide a shield wall for the Jem Hadar, and Breen. All Cardassian ships in Dominion fleets seek to mutiny, and break away from thier masters. They seek refuge in ether Federation, or Klingon space.

The three major Alpha Quadrant powers, The Federation, The Klingon Empire, and The Romulan Star Empire can withstand the new Dominion assaults on thier own. Thier relations strained by ether subterfuge, or the belief that only they can win the Second Dominion War by themselves. All three empires are holding the line....for now. The Klingon, and Romulan empires will not stop with the Dominion if they are victorious, and the Federation knows this.

Meanwhile.... As four major empires are fighting for survival, control, or domination.. Transwarp signatures are detected, and the unthinkable happened. The Borg have returned. The transwarp network that was thought to be destroyed was only partially damaged. Since that time The Borg Collective has remade itself. The "Queens" were all wiped out at the central hub. They were deemed "Irrelevant". The Borg have become a true collective conscious. One mind. One purpose. In a nanosecond the Collective determined that the Alpha Quadrant species are the most serious threat to their existance. Especially species 5618 (Humans). They attack not with just one ship, but with the force of the entire collective. Worlds fall in minutes. Then all are exterminated. Assimilation is irrelivent. All must be annihilated if the collective is to survive.... Resistance is futile.

Know that it is the year 2388, and the Known galaxy is now in a state of Total War...

As with the original SoA mod you can fight battles in SoA2 using hundreds of Star Ships. Sometimes thousands "if" your computer can handle it!!

The playable factions of SoA 2 will be

The United Federation of Planets

SoA 2 0.4E for SOASE: Entrenchment is in total reconstruction.

V-11 Bright One, Winged Defender, and Valdore

We are currently working on the SoA 2 0.4E for Entrenchment. It currently is being rebuilt using new knowledge, and new methods. SoA 2 0.4E will only be released for S.o.t.S.E.: Entrenchment version 1.041+.

Check here for up to date news about SoA 2 Forums.sinsofasolarempire.com

The SoA 2 0.3e series has been deemed an abysmal failure, and all downloads for the 0.3e series have been removed.  Right now we are rebuilding the 0.4e series using all of the new knowledge of Sins hard code limits, and all of the lessons learned from this failure. It may take a while so please be patient. In the mean time enjoy the Original Sins version of SoA 2.

The Latest version of the mod is SoA 2 "OS"  for Original Sins of a Solar Empire version 1.181

To install Place the SoA 2 folder in the Sins mods folder located here....
For Windows XP users:
C:\Documents and Settings\"your user name" \local settings\Application Data\Ironclad Games\Sins of a solar Empire\Mods-v1.1181

For Vista, and Windows 7 users
C:\Users\"your user name"\AppData\Local\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Mods- v1.1181

The readme has been updated.

If a new sins patch is released you can use Harpo9999's mod updater tools to convert an older SoA 2  release to the current sins patch. Do this at your own risk. We do not support older versions of SoA 2, and it is not guaranteed to work as in the case of SoA 2 0.3e.102.

0.04 will be the last update for regular sins. All newer updates will be for entrenchment only.

For now all updates will be for 0.03 until we get the new models in, and make sure it all works with 1.16 and entrenchment 1.02

hopefully the filefront shutdown wont effect modDB too much

Hhmmmm...

Trying to run this on retail version 1.11, Czech (using English.str file) and the MOD is giving me dump output and a SoaSE crash when I try to enable it.

1) Is there anybody else here that is able to run the SoA mod on retail/different language version of SoaSE?

2) Anybody interested in the "dump" created by the crash? :)

ya hi i download this mod and i love it's great..... however the SS voyager is a frigate class ship NOT a Capital ship because in the SI-Fi the voyager is the last and the most powfullest ship in the feadasion (soz the spelling) i think it should be a capital class ship so could you do that in the next version please!!!

Hi guys,

Just letting you all know i am still alive, and my interest in SoA2 has not faded. Darkshimmer is doing an excellent job of holding the fort during my absense. I have yet to see the new updates Darkshimmer added being as i am on the road for work, and have no computer of my own to use during this trip. Hopefully that will change soon.

I trust Shimmers judgement with the mods progress. We both keep in contact via phone, and he keeps me informed of what is going on with the mod, I still say yay, or nay on some things. However right now i cannot work on the mod myself due to my traveling. Once i am back at my home computer i can work on 0.04, and the conversion to entrenchment.
