Greetings all,
OrionSlaver here with another update on the development progress of Star Trek Infinities. This is something of a major update as the development team has just had what could be described as a breakthrough.
You see, even since before the last update our intrepid team of developers had hit a snag. A fairly hefty and confounding snag.
Essentially the problem was this – those wonderful, detailed, custom-made models we’re so fond of showing you? The Stellaris AI was stubbornly refusing to build them during testing. The AI team tried and tried again but as we’re all still learning the special secrets of Stellaris nothing seemed to work. Progress slowed to a frustrating grind as Max and the team grappled with the AI like a group of Greco-Roman wrestlers, their muscled bodies taught, their oiled skin glistening in the Mediterranean sunshine…
The Loef deals the final blow to the Stellaris AI
FOCUS, ORION! slap FOCUS!
It’s a clever person who tries to figure things out for themselves, but it’s a wise person who knows when to ask for help, and only a fool ploughs ahead blindly. It is for this reason that we reached out to the Paradox Development Studio, the team who created Stellaris itself, for aid and advice on how to proceed. With the expertise and assistance of such a respected development team, our problems soon started falling like dominoes and we are once again on schedule. Hopefully it'll be smooth sailing from here on out.
We would like to take this opportunity to tank the good folks over at Paradox. As one good turn deserves another, we encourage any fellow modders out there who may be experiencing similar problems with Stellaris’ AI to contact us.
I’m happy to announce that the mod is in the current state:
- The ship lists for both the Federation and Cadassians are complete.
- The AI now builds and arms these ships appropriately.
- These vessels largely behave as they should, though they will of course be tweaked prior to release.
- Balancing of custom, faction-specific Star Trek weaponry is underway.
- Custom research trees are in development.
- Work on the currently secret minor factions is well underway. Expect further news on these in the future. - Work on custom special event chains is ongoing.
In other news our glorious leader Max 'The Loef' Loef has appeared on Trekyards, in which he describes his history and how he got into modding. Keep an eye on Trekyards, as Max will be reappearing soon to describe his vision for Infinities.
Our demo, Star Trek Infinities: Border Wars, will be with you on time. Maybe even sooner! Thanks for sticking with us and we'll be back with another update soon.
'Til next time, stay classy. Or don't.

I am really looking forward to this! Great work guys! And good idea, getting help from the company that made the game you are modding. They would obviously(hopefully) know more about it than anyone.

Those wrestlers were hairy too

Good on Paradox. They've always been supportive of the modding community.
They're a good bunch.
lol, you guys had problems with this? New Horizons got that working from day one... wish you all the best
compared to what i am seeing in horizons the models these guys have are a hell of a lot better than the other guys have
Realy looking forward to this mod.
One question:
How are you going to handle ship progression. On the one hand there are shiptypes, corvettes, frigates, cruisers ... . On the other hand there is the Star Trek continuity. Would be great if you could implement different ship segments that represented the timeperiod but would only get activated when the respective tech was researched (dont know if Stellaris allows this).
