Play as the versatile United Federation of Planets, the enigmatic Romulan Star Empire or as the formidable Klingon Defence Force!

The mod will spread over all four Star Trek eras (ENT, TOS, TMP and TNG) and you will find a diverse and well balanced list of starships and space stations at your disposal
This mod aims to bring together the best parts of such classic games as Star Trek: Armada 2 and
Star Trek: Legacy in the beautiful and malleable Homeworld 2 engine

We aim to boldly go where no Star Trek game has gone before!

G'day everyone!

Today I am going to give you a quick run through on how to access the Steam network for multiplayer games as described by one of the Gearbox devs on their forum. This is not working just yet according to this thread, but this is how it will work when it does, and there are workarounds described in the thread. When this is patched I will update this news post to remove the mention of it not working yet

As for how it should work...

Step 1: Pretty obvious, go into the mods section of the launcher

Steps for multiplayer

Step 2: Select HW2 classic mods

Steps for multiplayer

Step 3: Select the mod you want to play multiplayer games with

Steps for multiplayer

Step 4: Add "-mpbeta" to the command line section and launch the game!

Steps for multiplayer

This is the instructions given by Gearbox as the workaround for the launcher bug in the meantime:

Create a shortcut to the executable in the Homeworld2Classic\Bin\Release folder (Homeworld2.exe) and then modify the shortcut to add "-mpbeta" to the end of the target line, followed by "-workshopmod", followed by the path to your mod. This path will be different for different players.

The path will start with the folder inside the Homeworld2Classic\DataWorkshopMods folder (that folder will by your numerical Steam ID) followed by a backslash, followed the folder with your mod's Workshop ID, followed by a backslash, followed by the name of your mod's .big file, like this:

-mpbeta -workshopmod 76557197238954965\403358147\STC_GAMMA.big

You can use that shortcut to explicitly run multiplayer with your mod. Just be aware that each player will need to modify this path to use their specific SteamID as the first part of the folder name.

The launcher doesn't even work for me. It comes on screen and then whites out and an error message saying that Wpf_STC_Launcher has stopped working. :(

Ugh and I thought the JJabrams enterprise was ugly but the Bonaventure eats the cake then pukes it up again!

Fantastic Mod regardless though. :)

Do you have any plans to convert this to the Remastered edition of HW2?

Sorry to ask again but now that a new release and the remaserd version of Homeworld are just around the corner I would like to know if you've got any plans considering the debris? Cause I'd love to see them stay instead of fading away.
Anyway I'm glad that the mod is still alive. It's an awesome mod ideed.
Keep up the good work and thank you! :)

Fantastic mod, really does an excellent job of bringing Star Trek to Homeworld 2. Ships and weapon effects all look great and there’s a lot of little details that really make it come alive. Revamped hyperspace is a great addition as it makes combat and resource gathering much more painless. Only downside is that most maps don’t have a colored skybox, making ships sometimes difficult to see against a mostly black background. Shipyard research also seems a little long, slowing down your midgame. Research…
