G'day everyone!

Today I am going to give you a quick run through on how to access the Steam network for multiplayer games as described by one of the Gearbox devs on their forum. This is not working just yet according to this thread, but this is how it will work when it does, and there are workarounds described in the thread. When this is patched I will update this news post to remove the mention of it not working yet

As for how it should work...

Step 1: Pretty obvious, go into the mods section of the launcher

Steps for multiplayer

Step 2: Select HW2 classic mods

Steps for multiplayer

Step 3: Select the mod you want to play multiplayer games with

Steps for multiplayer

Step 4: Add "-mpbeta" to the command line section and launch the game!

Steps for multiplayer

This is the instructions given by Gearbox as the workaround for the launcher bug in the meantime:

Create a shortcut to the executable in the Homeworld2Classic\Bin\Release folder (Homeworld2.exe) and then modify the shortcut to add "-mpbeta" to the end of the target line, followed by "-workshopmod", followed by the path to your mod. This path will be different for different players.

The path will start with the folder inside the Homeworld2Classic\DataWorkshopMods folder (that folder will by your numerical Steam ID) followed by a backslash, followed the folder with your mod's Workshop ID, followed by a backslash, followed by the name of your mod's .big file, like this:

-mpbeta -workshopmod 76557197238954965\403358147\STC_GAMMA.big

You can use that shortcut to explicitly run multiplayer with your mod. Just be aware that each player will need to modify this path to use their specific SteamID as the first part of the folder name.

Greetings from the STA3 Team.. Well another one anyway :p

I would like to echo KillaBC's earlier comment. Great to see a new version released. The battles look stunning, very cinematic.

Congrats on the release, really enjoying it.

Once the homeworld remastered edition is released the feeling will be mutual! That's not to say how good it looks with shader 2.0 already.

Sorry if I sound annoying :/ But the new released mod isn't working for me, every time I start a match and wait in the loading screen it just crashes just before going in the map. I have tried different races and shaders but nothing is working.

For some reason the 2.0 shaders are not showing in-game even though my Graphics Card [AMD Radeon HD6800] should support them and I have it selected in the launcher.

Weird thing is in previous releases the shaders were working fine.
Any tips?

Update: To try and fix the problem I re-downloaded and updated my graphics drivers. Problem is now STC won't load at all. :( I click Launch, it goes to a black screen for a couple of seconds then returns right back to the launcher.

These keep coming up in the error log:
"error executing GetAssumedLatestDll() in driverConfig.lua"
and
"14.501.1003.0 AMD Radeon HD 6800 Series renderer (Suspected driver is 0)"

Ran it as administrator, problem remains. I've checked all the properties/settings of the short-cut and exe file, as well as my Anti-Virus to make sure it was not blocking anything. Still no change.

Fantastic mod, really does an excellent job of bringing Star Trek to Homeworld 2. Ships and weapon effects all look great and there’s a lot of little details that really make it come alive. Revamped hyperspace is a great addition as it makes combat and resource gathering much more painless. Only downside is that most maps don’t have a colored skybox, making ships sometimes difficult to see against a mostly black background. Shipyard research also seems a little long, slowing down your midgame. Research…
