Fleet Operations is a popular skirmish and multiplayer orientated total conversion modification for Activision's real-time strategy game Star Trek Armada II. The project's goal was not only to create a simple "modification" but as total conversion to make Armada II a worthy successor to the second best selling Star Trek game Star Trek: Armada (behind Interplay's Star Trek: 25th Anniversary by a small, but fair margin).

The first public version of Fleet Operations was released in 2003. Today, version 3 includes a whole new user interface, an updated game and graphics engine, completely replaced ship models, 5 balanced races with totally new gameplay and tons of new possibilities making Armada II a real real-time strategy multiplayer game.

Fleet Operations features

  • 5 balanced races: Federation, Klingon, Borg, Romulan and Dominion
  • More than 200 new ships and stations
  • Dynamic tactics: Avatars, ship experience system, mixed tech, warp-in, ...
  • Fully supported and improved AI
  • Community driven and active in development since 2003
  • Game engine enhancements: Widescreen support, FMOD sound engine, Tunngle online gaming, ...
  • Not the Armada you played: 99% of all models, graphics, sounds, scripts rewritten or replaced
  • Patched to include latest fixes up to Windows 7
  • Easy Installation: Installs right off your Armada II CD - no pre-installation required

T his patch - most importantly - fixes the frequent, frustrating multiplayer out of sync (OOS) problems, some of which that have been present since the first 3.0.0 release. These issues made playing cooperative AI games online nearly impossible without resulting in a desync and eliminated the possibility to use wormhole-rich multiplayer maps.
We would like to thank everybody profusely who was involved in those long and tedious (but fruitful!) hours of out of sync testing.
The multiplayer Tunngle integration is also fixed, allowing you to immediately jump into the correct Fleet Operations lobby to play online games!
Although this is not the long awaited next version - rest assured, 4.0 is still well on track. These bug fixes are a direct result of work on our next version.

Amazing mod, I love it, truly revitalised this old favourite. One issue though, I looked all over the FAQ and couldn't find it mentioned, all weapons in the game, including mining lasers, seem to be audible from almost anywhere else on the map. I keep thinking combat is taking place just off-screen, when in fact the battle is a great distance away. It's worse with the mining lasers as they are a constant and annoying noise.
If I scroll way off into some distant area it does get quieter, but it's still nowhere near accurate.

yes, we have a active community in our own tunngle channel. tunngle is similar to hamachi but a lobby based system. fleet operations has build-in support for tunngle Tunngle.net

I have an idea for a future release of fleetops, in the current release ( 3.14 ) players start with a starbase wich is to according to the Star trek movies and series an outpost.

For example: the federation starts with an "outpost" instead of the typical mushroom-like starbase.

So my question is: can you make the mushroom-like starbase to begin with when playing a map and make it a 1 time build only and super powerful so players need an armada to destroy the starbase and maybe it also may be used as a research/build/repair base to for example research some sensor and weapon modifications and build a special unit like the prometheus or premmonition or galaxy class?
Or it can be used as a heavily armed and armored new SF-Command skin.

And for the Romulans and Klingons make starbases like seen in the PC game Starfleet Command III?
Also heavily armed and armored.
And can you also make a special unit for the klingons let's say the wave ship from Armada II and for the Romulans the vortex base-killer ship also seen in Armada II?
Both of them also buildable from their own starbases.

I wish you all a happy X-MAS and a great 2011

Wow this is ST Armada!? It looks like ST Legacy's Graphics! I was a big fan of Armada despite its shortcomings. Nice Mod!

They are intended to be unplayable, and will only be NPC races (when finished). The Cardassians because they were slaughtered during the war, and 8472 because they are unbalanced godships.

Adding either as playable would ruin the storyline behind the game.

I have one quest.

I was playing as Romulan against Borg.

My Romulan ship was assimilated and the texture of the ship was normal. Not as assimilated ship.

If a Borg assimilate as ship like -Sovereign-, the Sovereign will get the assimilated texture????

Assimilation is still not finished, they are still adding it to most ships.

Fleet Ops has an active development team who are constantly working to make sure it has the 5 key elements of a good RTS game: 1. Difficulty: Players with a long history of RTS gaming and elite clicking skills can practice and pull off amazing strategies that are at their level, while new players can still enjoy the game without going crazy. 2. Pace: A small-map game can be over in 10 minutes, while a large team fight can last over an hour without players finding themselves at a stalemate. Individual…
