The Borg are OP on purpose: So you can have a fun fight with a couple of allies together trying to take a single Borg enemy down. If you want to fight an enemy that you can beat 1 on 1, do not play against the Borg. It's not a question of them being too OP, it's a question of you not having enough allies to help you out

Dominion long range warp research is called Warp Manifolds, in your civilian research menu.

The Borg are fine. They've been made more accessible for human players and remain the supreme AI challenge.

You're welcome. And you don't HAVE to like the Borg. :)

They're a lot of fun to fight against with a group of friends, though. ;)

They are the borg. If they weren't over powered what would be the point? I play against them alone on hard difficulty and i get slaughtered but that's the fun part about them, you cant do it on your own. Grab some friends and do a good old comp stomp. They're meant to be almost unstoppable and playing as the borg your perfectly balanced with the other factions it just takes a different way of thinking.

True, but that gets old real quick. After a while, you simply don't inlcude them anymore, because you like games, where the outcome isn't predetermined, games that offer some surprises. Playing with, or against the Borg is always the same. That's why you don't have purposely OP factions in most strategy games, because instead of adding to the game, it subtracts. That's what difficulty is for.

I broadly agree that OP factions in a strategy game are a bad thing; however, I think the Borg are a special case. One of the many things I like about this mod is the effort that has been taken to stay as close to Star Trek lore as possible; the Borg AI has to be OP or it's not the Borg; the player then has the choice of including the Borg or not. Even playing against Borg AI it's not a foregone conclusion: several allied human players will take down the Borg AI; as will a good human player allied to several other AI - if the AI works in that particular game.

As far as playing as Borg is concerned, I played a recent game against evil Romulan and Klingon allied together and it was a close run thing; I beat them in the end but it was touch and go until late-game and I - maybe wrongly - consider myself to play at a decent standard.

I have a few problems. 1) Several ships including the ambassador and the surak cruiser are appearing completely green. 2) The game crashes with no error report after about 5 to 10 min.

Anyone else have this problem?

Suggestions:
1) Ensure that your Sins exe is not set to Read Only, then make sure that Large Address Aware is applied to it. CTA will not run for more than 10-15 minutes without it.

2) Try setting your in-game graphics settings to their lowest possible settings, apply, then reset them to whatever you usually have them set at. This can allow the textures and effects to reset and reapply.

3) Ensure your OS and graphics drivers are fully up to date. Update if necessary.

Did you follow the install instructions? Have you applied the 3gb-ram-patch to the Sins-exe? Did you check under properties if the exe-file has been flagged "read only"?

Haven't been playing for awhile, and just downloaded CTA two days ago, and holy **** are you guys blowing me away again or what!?

Armada III gets more and more into a state where I wouldn't consider it only my favorite mod, but also my favorte game.

The Borg also seem to be much more playable now. Okay, they're still OP as ****, but at leasst playing with them isn't as autowin as it was before. Though I still believe that, even though it makes sense from a lore point of view, having the Borg this OP, is restricting the gameplay and the variety of it too much.

Anyway, Armada III still is a strong 9/10 for me. No way around it. I'd give it 10/10, but I still can't get over those buttugly STO profile pictures. And I say this as a vivid STO player... Probably wouldn't bother me as much, if you wouldn't have included real life pictures of certain characters in the game, but as it is, this discrepancy between those two is kinda triggering me.

I just want to wish you guys a happy new year, and once again thank you for your hard work and dedication of filling the hole in the gaming market, that is decent Star Trek games.

I also love what's been done with the Borg. A ALOT of work went into improving them.

There are actual ics of characters from the show in there. Just click on a hero unit and be greeted with a mugshot of your favourite Captains, Admirals, Guls, Generals, and Commanders.

I'd like to write in defence of what's been done to the Borg when played by a human player.

I played a game as Borg last night - large random map, evil AI opponents.

I found it far more interesting to play as Borg than in STA3 1.0. If you get to the right-hand side of the tech-tree and start churning out cubes and fully upgrading unicomplexes you can still steam-roller all the other AI players; however, it's been made far harder to get there. I was sandwiched between a Klingon AI and a Romulan: they played out of their AI skins and were still churning out large varied fleets late-game - including titans; I was still losing planets to them mid-game and they nearly wiped me out a couple of times!

Borg AI should be the stuff of nightmares; however, I think it was necessary to make these changes to make it worthwhile playing as Borg against the AI; and who would want somebody in a multi-player match playing as Borg as they were in 1.0.

Oh, and I love the addition of Borg appendages to assimilated cruisers: nice touch!

I forgot to mention the increase in supply consumed by Borg cubes and the progenitor.

Again I feel this makes playing as the Borg more interesting: even late game you can't have your cake and eat it; do you have a larger more diverse fleet or max-out on cubes - decisions, decisions.

So it doesn't seem I'm able to play this game with my friends. Both of us did a clean Install of sins, Extracted the zip files to the mod folder. Made sure sins folders are not read only when applying the LAA which is set to true on both. Game runs fine for about 7 auto saves then lags us down then freezes to the point we have to restart both computers. We are both running i7, nVidia 600 series with 32 gigs of ram on win 8.1 64 bit all updated drivers. I'm at a loss of what can be done it's frustrating playing so long to it crashing. I do want to make a note that the older version does not have this problem at all. I'm trying to figure out what changed.

I am not, tho we both have just played against the computers offline as well on our own same issue. I been using procmon to see if I can figure out what process is crashing the program. I just now was playing the computer offline with only windows boot programs running and after 6th or 7th auto save went frozen again. I love your mod so much I'm trying to figure out what's killing it for me other then LAA not applying over 2gs even used Ntcore patch the highest I have been able to log on ram is 2.6g the search goes on. Any advice you can give is greatly appreciated.
