Visit our youtube video below for a recap of our federation changes!

NOTE TO THE PLAYERS:

The recent Steam update for Sins of a Solar Empire so far shows no signs of negatively affecting the mod. However, our general advice is to re-apply LAA once your update is complete.

Carry on enjoying the mod!

Great update, now the federation can embrace the dark past of their warrior nature!

You might take a Galaxy to the prom, but you'd take a Nebula to the altar.

One question Devs, did 'Fleet Manual' ever get released?

The last time I downloaded (admittedly a long time ago!) it was not included.

Spoiler!!

Siscutus Of Borg!!! Would the prophets still speak with him?

Rather than doing individual fleet manuals we put together a wikia page that's steadily growing.

The Delta Cube will indeed attack Alpha Borg, for they have become flawed creations.

G R E A T News indeed.

Now I'm also looking forward too see what You also have done with both The Klingons, The Romulans, The Cardassians / Dominions & The Borg too in Your next "Dev Diary Video".

Some proposals:

- Please also make Your new Phaser-Turret fire B o t h Pulse- & Beam- phasers. Or make it possible to Upgrade / Update it to fire B o t h Beam- & Pulse- phasers at the same time via the Research-Tree.

- Please also make it possible to Update / Upgrade Your new Torpedo-Turret to fire Quantum-torpedoes or / and Tricobalt-torpedoes via the Research-Tree instead of "only" Photon-torpedoes.

Anyway: Please keep up A L L Your good work at Your ”Star Trek Armada 3 Mod” Project in the future.

Still:

- Please also make it possible to have B o t h an Outpost and a Starbase in the GravityWell for All playable Factions.

- Please also make it possible to have atleast 30 Slots for B o t h Starbases and Outposts.

- Please also make it possible for The Pirates to attack in lager numbers / groups than they can do at present & to take planets aswell instead of "only" attacking the player(s).

- Please also make Neutrals more powerfull - or - increase The Numbers of Neutrals with empty planets.

In other words:

- Please push the Iron Engine to it's limits. :-)

If you want more/harder enemies, try a map with [Cailean556] in the name.

Aside from their pirate base, pirates don't want to hold planets, they want to loot them - and they don't 'only' attack players, they will engage neutrals if they're in range. Attacking players is how they're all 'corporationy' and, and they make money... (awkward silence)

As for your other 'requests'...to cut a long story short...no. At least, to my knowledge...

I'd love to have some of these beautiful models in Space Engineers. I'm already working on an Excelsior Class to make it work in Space Engineers. I'm hoping that there could be a Star Trek based Space Engineers server at some point.

As for STA3, I'm excited for lots of new maps and updating the other game modes (Flagship Victory foremost among them) to be available for online play. We should have a celebration day when the patch is released and get a bunch of people together for a game!

I will celebrate as I always do - by sitting alone in an empty room, gently sobbing into a big ol' glass of wine.

wouldnt it make sense for the torpedo turrets to fire quantums aswell as/instead of photons? if you make a weapons platform designed specifically to dish out damage, youre gonna give them your most powerful weapons. anyways, great vid, really enlightening.

Dont get me wrong id love to add this option in but it would mean looking at turret balance across the whole game again to make it fair, i can only say from a canon perspective that ona war footing the federation decided to update their offensive efforts first in our time period, preferring to rely on its strike craft for defence efforts and range

A canon explanation might consider that the only ships that are outfitted with quantum torpedoes are the Enterprise-E, the Defiant, and the Lakota. All three of these ships one would classify as "elite", the Enterprise-E being the all-but-in-name flagship of the "most advanced starship" class in the fleet, the Defiant being a basically one-of-a-kind prototype ship designed to fight the Borg, DS9's dedicated warship, and Sisko's command ship during the Dominion War, and finally, the Lakota being an old Excelsior refit (presumably itself an "elite" vessel during its heyday), then upgraded with state-of-the-art systems and armament that allows it to go toe-to-toe with the Defiant (epicness aforementioned). Knowing this, one would assume that quantum torpedoes are not just issued to anybody, meaning that 1) they are hard to manufacture, or 2) they purposely limit their use in the same way that (if we go by Beta canon) transphasic torpedo usage is kept at a minimum. Therefore, turrets would likely not utilize quantums because it would not be tactically or economically sound. With emplacements and stations (and using DS9 as an example), one would assume that volume of fire would matter more than individual warhead potency.

Also judging by on-screen examples of their use, quantum torpedoes are only marginally more powerful than photons. The heyday of the photon torpedo is far from over and your average humdrum unmanned defence turret would almost certainly be equipped with photons.

Sorry if this has already been said on another post on here but I was wondering if the defiant is equipped with a cloaking system like the defiant on the tv show. I think the defiant is one of the coolest ships in the tng era and should be decorated with the cloaking system technology

Nah, a cloaking ability on a single ship would be useless and a waste of an ability slot.

Remember, Sins is a game about fleets, rather than individual ships. A single ship, even a Hero, operating alone is far from effective and very vulnerable.

couldnt you give the defient hero a "cloak fleet" ability that only works on defiants. so that it could cloak defiant cruisers around it, then you could use it for wolfpacks

In the show the Defiant had no such ability, and the first Defiant itself was the only ship equipped with a cloaking device on loan from the Romulans.
