The Federation of the 24th century have always had trouble containing the Empire. The Klingons mopped them up during the conflict of the 2370's.

Ya, tbh a lasting peace with the klingon's is seemingly impossible. They all have naturally violent natures, it just takes one nutty chancellor to take over and before you know it they are attacking the feds. There was a timeline episode in TNG where if the Enterprise C hadn't defended a klingon colony then the empire would of have been at war with the feds from like 2330 - 2370

The Ent-C incident was during a time where the peace between the two powers was fragile and showing signs of collapse, but the self-sacrifice of a Federation ship defending a Klingon colony showed the Empire they were an honourable ally and thus reaffirmed and strengthened the alliance.

You really can't look at the Empire in the same way you look at the Federation. Apples and Oranges, only thing they have in common is that they are fruit. Same with the Empire and Federation, only thing they really have in common is that are galactic powers. The federation values life above all else, fighting off death. To die in honourable combat means more to a Klingon than his life. His honour and family come first before his own life. They are just two different societies, and there is corruption in both powers, the Federation have had their fair share as well. Starfleet Admiral who wanted martial law using the threat of the Dominion as an excuse is one example, another can be seen in The Undiscovered Country.

lol and if you accept the JJ verse, Admiral Marcus blowing up starfleet vessels to hide his crimes. I get your point, but mine was simply that they are unstable and volatile. Like if one member of a faction (house) is slain because of honor or whatever then the other house will seek vengeance and a civil war can begin etc..

A few screenshots we picked up during our MP test of the recent rebalances. The battles now last a little longer and that really makes the atmosphere more star trek like.
