The Galaxy was my favourite of all of them. I was annoyed that by the time the Oddysey blew up fully half of the first 6 Galaxies were destroyed.

You'll be pleased to know that the USS Galaxy herself is confirmed to have made it through the Dominion War, though she was heavily damaged several times.

wasn't the galaxy at chin'toka, the one ship galaxy class you see getting heavily damaged. that's always been my favourite ship, and the one i would captain if i could choose, the USS galaxy

Man i love the episode.
Until now the galaxy was one of the most powerful normal ( i exclude things like a borg cube ) ships we have seen yet, especially with the countless encounters the enterprise d had.
And yet 3 of those b'rel sized ships take it out in seconds of fighting.

From that episode i knew that this upcomming dominion war was on a complety different level than the war against klingons and romulans.

Yeah but as they do with all Trek Villains they start nerfing them so the heroes get a moment in the spotlight. In the end those Jem'hadar bug ships were just zapped with one shot each time. Would of much preferred them to have stayed as menacing as this.

To be fair Starfleet was surprised to find that their shields were effectively useless against Jem'Hadar weapons. Even a Galaxy-class starship won't last long without effective shields.

That was one of the reasons why the writers chose a Galaxy class, the fans coming in front TNG would be shocked.

Description

"Starfleet's orders are simple. Traffic through the wormhole will be suspended until the Odyssey can investigate the Jem'Hadar's threat."

"What about Benjamin and the others?"

"Don't worry, Lieutenant. Commander Sisko's return is a top priority."

"If you're going to try to rescue them, then we're coming with you."

"Are you sure that's wise? With the exception of Major Kira and Chief O'Brien, none of you have much combat experience."

"We've fought the Maquis."

"All the Maquis had were a pair of lightly armed shuttlecraft. I expect the Dominion to have sharper teeth."
