I really appreciate your efforts of revising all the ships! As a passionate Fed player, I think the Excalibur HAS to look as bulky as it does currently, unlike the Sol-class or Sovereign-class. Especially that "raised-joist-part-thingy" on the saucer breaks with that a little. Anyway, very good work - keep it up!

Looks great! However, one quality I really enjoyed about the original was its shear size and mass. Will the new model retain those traits or are they somewhat reduced?

The new Excalibur? From afar I thought that I see a Titan-class (btw, Titan may be an interesting choice for Federation Late Game support capital).

I thought that old model was 100% Bridge Commander copy. It was a very detailed work. Probably I missed something...

Like Polaris it's more like Star Trek Online ship. Sleek and visibly modular, while late TNG era ships are more angled and monolithic.

Was this change in your plans for a long time or you simply have more free time now? ...to set things as you want?

I believe asking you to save Excalibur is utterly hopeless. You will simply say "we don't care, ha ha ha" in your next video, just like you did in case with Typhon.

If you want to see another ship of your own design, so rename the class. Then she will be all yours. But this ship is not Excalibur. Not even close. This is Excalibur:
Vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net

Original Excalibur was designed by other man and using this name for your own class design, claiming that it's the same ship is not good. At least, pay some respect to original author, rename the ship.

An Axanar-class maybe?

Damn right it is, and damn right we will.

Battlemage, we've been over this more than once. Max and our modellers, being responsible for the visual art of this mod, are free to adapt models as they see fit, within reason. This is especially true with ships like the Excalibur, which is beta-canon at best.

Also your claim that it's 'not even close' to the Excalibur is just wrong. This model bears a strong resemblance to the original design and is easily recognisable as the Excalibur class. Honestly, you're making a LOT of negative assumptions based on a single picture (taken from a single angle) of a work in progress.

Battlemage, you've been comparatively bearable lately. Some of your requests and suggestions have even been interesting enough to spark discussions within the dev team. Please don't revert to your old, needlessly confrontational self.

Nothing changed in my personality, Orion. That's why I won't allow myself a word of yours. I will treat you with respect for your deeds, but if I see a good enough reason, then I will disagree. Just to bring up a point. And this is the time, when I feel I must remark that you're doing a wrong step when calling it "Excalibur".

This ship is not Excalibur. And from the moment you've implemented 1st change to the original construction, she's a refit. Or a completely different class.

My next interesting suggestion is to show some respect to original author and change the class' name. Or, at least, remark that she's no longer a prototype Excalibur, but fully tested and refitted ship of the line.

Also, as we all know, your team was engaged in Axanar project which actually died. It would be great to save a memory of it... in this new class name.

P.S. Give me a list of LOT. I didn't make even a single one.

Again, you haven't seen the full model yet. I have. Maybe you should reserve your judgement (which you've stated in four separate posts now), until after the model is complete and shown from multiple angles.

Our Axanar mod was cancelled because we adopted a 'better safe than sorry' position after the wider Axanar film project came into very serious legal trouble. As such, for the time being there are no plans to have any Axanar references in TFF. This ship will remain as the Excalibur. You can consider her a refit if that makes sense to you.

People who live in glass houses should not throw stones.

No list. No readiness to affirm that ship construction changes make this ship at least a refit. Pure stubbornness and pointless rage.

Well, the old Battlemage is back and kicking.

Now, I see you've edited an earlier comment of yours to include a request for a list of assumptions I think you've made. Let me oblige.

First of all, you claim that this is NOT the Excalibur class, based purely on a single WIP picture. Assumption.

Second, you claim that it doesn't even resemble the Excalibur class, again based purely on said picture. Assumption.

Third, you claim that Max is somehow 'disrespecting' the original creator of the Excalibur design. Assumption.

Fourth, the way in which you're expressing yourself makes it seem as though you think this model won't be as good as the old. Assumption.

Fifth, you seem to think that your OPINIONS should dictate the artistic direction this mod takes. Biiiig assumption.

And now for YOUR accusations. You accuse us of stubbornness and pointless rage. I invite you to present me with examples of precisely when I have failed to address your concerns or dealt with you in an uncivil manner. You can't.

Anyway, I'm going to cut this conversation short - it's going nowhere, as tends to be the case when we engage with you. The truth is, Battlemage, that you apparently don't know how to communicate with people in a constructive way. Instead, you often come across as a genuinely unpleasant person. Maybe you should work on that.

Battlemage1 - - 962 comments

You asked of it. Fine.

You made me laugh.
Your "conclusions" came out of nowhere. You made them only to bring something to show, but they're really weak as I tend to be polite even with you and never allow myself anything more than opinions. And opinions are not forbidden.

And now I'm asking you to bring me something more "uncivil". Go ahead and bring me an example of a strong word of mine. Though, I doubt you will do something, because you started this only with your view of my 'assumptions".

Apparently, you have no idea on who I am and what I have achieved.
The only thing you have is your strong ill-conceived reaction on purely emotionless and objective critics. Your stubbornness and personal bias obstacle your view.

You're telling that I express myself in "uncivil manner", but you're the only one who sparkled this unpleasant conversation. You're the only one who keeps engaging me even after I disengaged. And you're the only one who use caps to express yourself.
You're the only one who behave "uncivil" here.

All accusations are made only by you and here's the list on top of this very post. You allow yourself very many things I don't. Apparently that's because you used to dictate what is "civil" and "uncivil". Just as you used to tell people of their intentions, even if what you say is pure rave: "Fifth, you seem to think that your OPINIONS should dictate the artistic direction this mod takes.'

You're even started your first post (not answer!) with words: "Damn right it is, and damn right we will."
Quite aggressive for a peacekeeper or at least the one who pretending to be the most adequate of two of us, don't you think?
Those more sensible wouldn't write a "wall", like you did. Personally I prefer a short answer: "No".

You're a bully, Orion. I don't like bullies, and so I don't like you. I highly recommend you to never talk to me again.

We had permission to use the original excalibur model from the excalibur team so as im retired i can be uncivil and say now battlemage.... SWIVEL!, also a name is a name is a name, call it a tribute if you want Call it a refit i doubt the acting devs care what you call it! I mean go on how many ships have been called the enterprise! in fact a name which was taken by Star Trek from an Aircraft Carrier...of 1945 origin or BIG E as she was known, you can wikipedia it if you like... AKA what this means is as Orion said you assume to much your highly judgemental and you come off pretty much all of the time sounding like a ****! Stop berrating the active devs all the time and enjoy the fact that UNPAID DUDES make a STAR TREK RTS when no one other than ABRAMS wants to make star trek games anymore..... P.S. i wont reply back if you reply not because you can BEST me but generally because your not worth my time to reply back to and i dont spend hours sprawling this forum anymore...

I merely suggested to honour the Axanar and prevent possible misunderstandings. And the whole hell is on broken loose.

Tell your remaining inadequate team members (like that one above) that their shoutings and **** bursts are not required. Probably they will listen to you.

Also, it would be great if you'll delete all these posts. This entire misunderstanding doesn't deserve its place on the wall.

I love it when people play at being a victim when they're wrong. It's such an appealing quality.

For what it's worth, based on the majority of your comments I don't like you much either. But that's irrelevant. If you 'highly recommend' that I never talk to you again then I suggest you stop moaning and talking ****. If you can't handle your criticisms being challenged then maybe you'd be more comfortable hiding under your bed.

Despite all of the controversy over your statement Battlemage, I have to say I mostly agree with your sentiment (though perhaps not the delivery of said sentiment). The Excalibur, despite being "beta-canon at best", is one of the best-known and beloved fan designs (I, being a huge Excalibur fan myself), so it is hard to justify that this new model represents the original Excalibur.

What I propose is to simply say that, in a similar manner to the Excelsior and the Ambassador, this is the "final production run" of the Excalibur, after refinements had been made to her design, perhaps designating it the "Excalibur, MK II", or someother. The original Excalibur was designated as NX-90000, an experimental, and her design elements indicate that she was built around the same time as the Sovereign (c. 2370), therefore it is entirely possible that refinements were made to the design after the initial release of the class, with later ships being closer to our design than the original Excalibur (a la Probert Ambassador vs regular Ambassador). It is, after all, in our game's timeline, a ship type (Space Control Ship) not seen in a century at least, surely there would be numerous bugs to iron out, especially considering the scale of the ship.
