Description

The Magnetar is a type of pulsar that generates unfathomably powerful magnetic fields -- so powerful, in fact, that atoms and particles themselves become drawn out into meters-long cylindrical rods. Captains that stray too closely to these fascinating stellar objects may find themselves in dire straits, as their ship's shields and targeting systems are rendered useless and their hull is slowly ripped apart by both gravitational and electromagnetic forces.
