Return to the Zone in S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Wormwood, a high-difficulty survival-oriented realism modification for GSC Game World’s S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Call of Pripyat. Wormwood builds upon the core Stalker experience, enriching the latest in the cult game series with brand new survival mechanics, intense and realistic gunplay, new missions, levels, fleshed-out building interiors and much, much more.
It's Day 2 of Wormwood Week, that means a brand new feature reveal!
Radiation has been overhauled and now poses a constant, looming threat.
Through drugs and other means, you'll need to mitigate the effects of ambient, induced and localised radiation.
The Zone's iconic invisible killer just became deadly again.
Radiation levels now increase slowly through simply being in the Zone, simulating the ambient low-level radiation present in the environment.
Utilising artifacts, eating and drinking irradiated consumables, and frequenting localised radiation hotspots will all add to this underlying ambient radioactivity, which you will need to control using the various tools now at your disposal.
Interesting! Are you able to comment on how you envision this to affect gameplay?
I ask because I'm curious to hear how you will be able to implement and balance a constant radiation dynamic that has a meaningful impact on gameplay without being tedious. I think it is a tricky thing.
I seem to remember that the Metro series did the gas mask filters pretty well. A good example of something that could have been really tedious that was given a bit more depth (good audio, nice visual effects, sometimes having to wipe gore off the goggles, etc) and turned out to be fun (at least, I thought so).
Looking forward to your future announcements!
Will just having artifacts sitting in your backpack pose a threat?
After reading the info on the wormwood site, yes.
We're planning to implement proper artifact containers.
please no. i always hated these in misery, please make it optional, what is the use of an artifact if you have to carry around a 5kg lead container?
nice (y)
Very nice feature, I like what I see :)
Each day is a bless, even if you are radiated.
I love when i see a new followed mod update literally the next day with some news or picture. =^]
Well I've got some good news for you, we've got updates every day this week :)
Apparently you still have a small downvoter problem here :(
We don't pay attention to downvotes or upvotes, neither should you :) It's the great comments that matter!
Sadly I do, and I can't do anything about it :( I just don't like cowards...
+ 1 im no downvoting coward and i totally agree with you.
From my point of view it's like this: You upvote somebody, and this dude knows he wrote something at least you agree with. No further questions.
If you downvote somebody, it's either because of very obvious reasons (he wrote with pure hate or other things that just don't belong here) or because that dude wrote something you DON'T agree with. Therefore you should have the balls to explain to him WHY you don't agree.
So, if I get downvoted but nobody explains me why, then, following my logic, I have to think my comment is something evil and out of place on ModDB and obviously bad. I hate to think that. Especially if I already had upvotes before.
Sh*t Beac, I didn't want to ruin this comments section, you may remove this comment chain if you like, I wouldn't be sad.
