The envisionment of TK is to bring you what was promised by GSC for STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl, instead of the gutted retail release we were left with. TK aims to cover every aspect imaginable from gameplay intended to genuinely scare the player, to texture replacements / enhancements for the absolute best visual experience, cut mutants, absolute realism, optimisations, stability, and a complete game mechanics overhaul - all without breaking the story. I want to deliver a mod which anyone who plays it will have their breath literally taken away by its sheer quality, attention to detail, and being the only mod players may well have to keep a spare pair of pants handy!
This video is of the HD foliage in TK. Specifically, this video is taken using the HD Foliage alternative grassess version I'm currently working on.
ModDB isnt the best place to upload HD footage...try youtube :)
Couldn't be arsed with all that faffing about of uploading to youtube, then messin around with linking etc. The vid is good enough for folk to see the textures are awesome :p I tend to record at 520p anyway which is still DVD video quality, just not HD level. HD requires me to twiddle my thumbs even longer while xvid4psp converts the raw file -via my CPU cores- even though I have a perfectly good GPU sitting here that could convert much faster. Damn xvid4psp.
They are nice yes, just not my taste. too "dead" imho. I like the idea of a well grown and green zone, as its like that in real life. People tend to think its like Fallout there, its all just the same like in any other country, just without the people (and with some radiation) And no people is what makes it such a green place :) the wildlife can fully grow there
SoC is a "what if.." alternative real life scenario, not "what actually is.." scenario, in which case a mixture of dead, dying, and alive trees mixed with dead, dying and alive grass is very realistic. Radiation effects nature and soil composition in a multitude of ways, to the extent of a radiated area in real life can have grass that looks dry and dying yet in that very same place could be a very healthy looking tree. I've done lots of research on this, thats how I know I'm getting the look right :D
