The envisionment of TK is to bring you what was promised by GSC for STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl, instead of the gutted retail release we were left with. TK aims to cover every aspect imaginable from gameplay intended to genuinely scare the player, to graphics for the absolute best visual experience, cut mutants, absolute realism, optimisations, stability, and a complete game mechanics overhaul, all without breaking the story. The idea is to present the player with a complete retail experience for the purist that liked SoC but wished it was far more fleshed out. In no way what so ever does TK try to be like old beta or alpha builds of SoC, TK aims to enhance everything SoC already has - nothing more, nothing less.

I know you say 'FPS is still very good' but my graphics card just squealed and kicked it's fans up a notch in reflex.

Well, I guess FPS is relative. On a system with a 2500k @ 4.5GHz, 8GB RAM @ 1866MHz and a 1GB GTX460 @ 900 / 4200 FPS is 35-40 and that includes all the HD textures, AI mods, shader mods, etc.

lol for TK you will need at least a quad core CPU of 3.6GHz, 4GB RAM and a 1GB heavily OC'd GTX460. TK is made around 2012 standards, its meant to challenge a system ;)

This is something that always annoyed me, the draw distance. When I first started playing ShoC, I thought the grass appearing in front of me was an ATI or AMD bug. Nice to know that it's engine related and has been basically ( or fully ) solved.

I don't know why the devs made the grass draw distance so short. By default with a unmodded renderer grass density even when set to maximum is crap, the devs could of tripled the grass draw distance and the performance impact would of been minimal.

Indeed :D Yesterday I made some HD rain and rain splashes / ripples, they look quite nice but I might redo the rain. The effects are to go with Meltacs new shaders so they won't look quite right until he releases those shaders for me to implement and make any necessary adjustments to the effects.

Description

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Settings have been finely tuned for a huge draw distance (229 vs 49) and grass density so FPS is still very good.
