S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - PreSky is a Total Conversion mod for Clear Sky, set before the events in Clear Sky begin. Its goal is to provide a fresh new game experience from the point of a regular Stalker within the Zone. This basically means that the mod has complete and total freeplay from the start. PreSky combines some of the best elements and ideas from all 3 games in the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series to produce a brand new gameplay experience within the Zone, with the sole intention of creating a more realistic Stalker experience that aims to make the player believe they are a Stalker. There is no main storyline progression to unlock new areas, or new items for the player. The Zone goes on living regardless of the actions of the player, with a virtually unrestricted alife that makes the Zone seem even more alive and real than it did before. The only storyline is the one you create for yourself.

When I am trying to load a saved game, the game crashed. I don't understand what's happening. I got the last version with the patch.

Same thing here, last save was in the marsh at the central campfire.

I also got a crash in the rookie village at the kordon.
Restarting the game helped seems to be a onetime error^^

I hope its ok to post here, unless the upper error is a bit different.

This error is usually caused when using incompatible savegames.
What version of the mod are you using? And had you recently changed versions?

Your lucky I decided to pop in here today. These hardly get used, so I rarely stop by.

Hey fluffy,

"normaly" everything should be fine.
Its the 0.30 version with 0.31 Patch.
I had installed the mod to this patchlevel and started it, played for a while and saved in the marsh.
Next time I want to load this save, it gave me this error.
No changes in the meantime.

And I also used a different name for save, to avoid load any other savegame from the vanilla version (called "testsave4").

Something didn't save correctly in the files, or the weather files have been changed. You haven't installed the Clear Sky version of Atmosfear or another weather mod have you?

Hmmm... lets think... if i remember right, i had added some textures to the mod, but i dont think that could be the reason.
Unless i havent changed any of the sky textures...
I wil have a look at it later... some file in the config were changed by me, but i dont think that it was some of the weather files.
If i find something, or got a solution for it, i will answer here, to clear things up.

Ok... there were more files in the enviroment folder, than it should be...oO
Maybe there were copied with some other files from the complete folder.

I havent played the mod for a long time, so I reinstalled it, copied some textures and sounds.
Now lets see if it will work^^
Textures and sounds should cause any problems... I hope.

I remember this bug. Odd thing is that it is fixed in the ModDB download - I think.
I assume that you've used a medical item or eaten something, then attempted to save?

Nope, let me think...

I started in the rookie camp, talked to wolf, than talked to sidor, get the "purge the area from mutants" quest" and after that i opened the two wooden crates in the houses.
Then i walked in the direction of the quest, passing the camp at the vaiduct.
I was about 100m away from the camp, then it crashed.

There was a few big errors in the original script, but I'm sure that I patched the gamedata prior to the upload. Place this script into gamedata/scripts/, and see if it works. Mediafire.com If it crashes upon loading, then you'll need to start a new game. Judging by the amount of time RL it would take to do that, it makes it likely that the faulty script was included in the archive, and I didn't pre patch it with this script.

The next version of the mod should hopefully be finished in a few weeks or so. I've only got 5 or so scripts to finish up, then a bunch of textures and text descriptions to work on.

Well, I've got enugh to do in the next weeks, so i just might wait for the next release.
I really like this mod, although it was a bit ... strange to have no job at the beginning^^

BTW... aren't you a german one?^^
How about a german translation for your mod?
The texts seems to be a little mixed up with my german stadard installation.
All new dialogs were in english, the "old" ones were in german...oO

I could add some stuff if you like, like stoires and things.
A got some old files from long gone projects of me, which can be used.

Send me a PM I you like to talk about it a little bit more.

0.4.whatever over at GSC has had so many informal patches and fixes linked its almost a mess. The next version, v0.4.somethingelseloookinglikeitmightbe7 is about 60% done, although the intended workload is probably only 40% of what needs to be spent.
I'm not German, and there never was any translation done in German, unless there was an unoffical translation done that I don't know about.
Next version after the next will most likely have a translation. Possibly. Don't know. Depends on how well received all of the changes I will be making.
If you have stories, particularly if they would fit into the custom PDA, please do send them, but not Duty, I've got about the same or more Duty diaries than 3 or 4 of the other factions put together.

Well, if you like, I could do the german translation.
Simply send me the files and will start.
One advantage would be, that there wont be mixed up texts in the game, if someone has it installed in german.

The stoires i've got, are most of the time stoires about the zone.
Like stories about about long gone valley in the south of dark valley, known as darkscape^^
It gives the game a touch of rpg, soething more to read, something for the atmosphere.

I've got text to add, text to correct, and some text which needs to be shortened to prevent random CTD's.

Darkscape ain't long gone. I can see it on my PDA map. :D

I didn't do any translations for previous versions, but IIRC I was offered by a German gaming magazine to have my mod feature in it along side a Clear Sky article. I didn't return the consent/permission contract, since I had some bugs crop up at the last minute that delayed the release. I don't know if it was added or not, but if it was, it is possible that they added a German translation.

BTW... I've translated 0.31 nearly complete... easy going, wasn't that much work.
Only the xml for the stashes is left.

But again.. DARKSCAPE! :wub:
How about the other maps left, like bar, rostok, hostpital, or NPP?
Then it would be complete enough for me, to roam weeks in the zone^^
