Personally I am getting too used to hearing the same sounds of barking dogs in the vicinity. That's why I think that this sound of a tormented dog is welcome change to a miserable environment concept. This is just one of many sound effect changes, thanks to Rvsty.

I hope no actual dogs were harmed during the recording of these sound effects.

I can't say for sure but I doubt it. It's taken from a sound database so I'm sure they just used a scared dog.

No, thats about what the loser sounds like, dogs scared cause he knows hes dying. We had a lot of coyotes out where I used to live, hear **** like that once in a while

It sounds good but i think it should be more quiet, it sounds like if the dog were at 10 or 20 meters away or behind a wall and if i hear that then i look around and i dont see anything i will say "huh?" ... Also i think it should have a more "mutated" sound

I think it should be more as if the dog were drowning, as if his throat were filled with blood or other fluids, or maybe a rabid dog, just saying

Don't worry guys, I think this is just a sad dog's whining, not a hurt animal's cry. :) And if I hear correctly it is pacing up and down. So, until the sound is used for non-aggressed mobs, good. For attacking/fighting dogs it would not work well.

Can you give an example of the circumstances that will cause this to be heard or will it just be a background sound in the zone?

I was thinking of making this a background sound effect in Pripyat. As if a hurt dog runs away from you when you enter the building where it's hiding ftom the world. You never get to see the dog.

If it is given a probability so it does not always happen just an occasional sound when entering some buildings it could work I am glad thats your idea for its use because I could not see it working on other occasions when we hear dogs, such as attacks. Are there other dog sounds on this database and is there one that gives more of a "scared by something" reaction rather than a "that hurt" sort of sound? This one does have the sort of backing down sound you would need for what you described, maybe you could do better if you found some scared by sounds Rvsty could merge with some of this rather than it sounding like it got hurt and then backs off.

I've actually edited it to have some reverb, makes the volume of the footsteps a lot more plausible and also adds to the effect of 'there's a hurt/dying dog somewhere in this building and it's avoiding me'. Perfect for a large building or apartment block in Pripyat, like N.Aaroe mentioned.

Description

I am pleased that Rvsty has provided many good sound effects for this mod like for this dog in pain, a poltergeist movement sound, actor steps, ... well many..
