MISERY is a mod to S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Call of Pripyat that aims to enhance the game in various aspects, most importantly being texture quality, difficulty...
MISERY 2.1 RELEASES MARCH 18
MDT member in charge of publishing the mod (N.Aaroe) is situated in Denmark.
This means that the mod will be released on the afternoon of Central European Time (UTC+01:00).
Please also take into consideration that ModDB staff will have to approve the uploaded data beforehand. Bottle neck traffic can be expected so please be patient regarding the various uploads, website updates etc.
Currently you may experience some delay on replies from emails directed at miserymod.com.
This is due to the release at hand but also the fact that this mod is a product of non-profit hobby work and as such we can't reply and service everyone swiftly. We are very thankful for your patience and understanding in this regard.
WHAT IS DIFFERENT FROM 2.1 BETA?
Well, a lot! Thanks to a band of veteran testers in the Testing Lab we have spotted and fixed many bugs.
But we didn't stop there.
The upcoming official release of 2.1 will have polished features and tweaked balance.
In addition we put an effort into performance optimization also.
What this means is that people with higher end rigs will have slightly higher FPS and slightly less stutter.
People with lower end rigs will notice that the mod now runs more fluently than ever before.
If the sun and the moon is set right you may even be able to increase the graphical settings without your rig giving up on the X-Ray engine. This is not only due to a nice texture optimization by the new, and very devoted, MDT member Stiivais but also multiple script enhancements by S.T.A.L.K.E.R. community bug crusher no.1: Yastiandrie.
The MISERY mod 2.1 will be released in english, polish and russian.
The russian version is still in BETA stage but we felt like not holding the mod back because of this.
Sadly, the french version got lost and this is the sort of thing that will happen from time to time as with any other project. Our gentleman in charge of french translation was 95% done but the data was lost, unfortunately.
Other cool people have contacted us about translating the mod and we are of course very grateful for that. Please note that by translating the MISERY mod you are looking at a task almost of the same proportions as when translating a standard novel. It is a lot of text and not a one-man job to be honest.
But as it seems there are many devoted and passionate gamers around that would like to give a hand on translation. Because of this we have now created a thread in the Testing Labs solely for this purpose. Finally we have a place and forum for translations, and communication between people who are interested in this aspect. We are truly honored to be able to state that a japanese, german and italian translation is in the making!

WHAT IS THIS TALK ABOUT A SILVER PLATE?
This is a term that we like to use when we talk about 'wrapping up the data' and estimated release.
What we mean by this is that a mod of this scale must be delivered properly as hundreds of people are downloading the mod in the few hours right after release. So, we have to make sure that the installation process runs smoothly and with thousands if unique rigs odds are that one or more people may experience some issues with either installation or starting the game.
MDT do all we can do make sure that what we deliver is as solid as it gets.
By 'silver plate' we also refer to the fact that this mod is not 'simply' delivered in raw data form for manual installation. We put a lot of effort into designing an installation program for the mod and with the release of MISERY 2.1 there are more optional installation options than ever before.
It is safe to say that the exe installer has been updated more than a dozen times to keep up with the ever changing situation of the mod.
GOOD THINGS COMES TO THOSE WHO WAIT
It is no surprise that MDT now is the proud owner of a powerful Amazon S3 server.
Not only will this ensure safe and solid downloads for everyone it will also allow us to avoid third party mirrors for the convenience of everyone.
But upon release there will be a nice surprise synchronized with the event.
It will remain a secret until March 18 - but it is safe to say that you can't miss it.
MDT WILL NEVER STOP
It is safe to say that MISERY 2.1 will not be last thing you see from us.
Although MISERY 2.1 can be considered a project completion there will be updates to follow.
We already have a new and very creative feature in the testing phases and of course the mod will be updated when new translations are completed.
The energy and passion that drives this modding team seems unstoppable.
One of our key developers, Marcin Trojanowski (trojanuch) was recently married and he could not control himself even on his wedding day, where a bunch of tweaks where accomplished.
That is how much we are addicted to the Zone!
Thanks for all the encouragement and feedback that we get.
This is the reason why we put such an effort into the public display and promotion of our mod project.
The mod would never have reached this point if it wasn't for You (you know who you are).
In case you are interested the [active] MISERY Development Team is:
These people are spending hours every day to improve on the MISERY mod.
We also get much help and support from talented russian modders like practik, and Chorbit!

Survivor horror at it's finest, although slightly flawed. Once all the kinks are ironed out, this will be the definite Stalker: Call Of Pripyat mod.

With the intention of being realistic, it ends up feeling like its "overly" realistic, while some aspects make sense, others do not. The idea that a trained military sniper gets too tired to even move after WALKING about 100 yards, only carrying 10 pounds of equipment, seems silly to me. A normal person might get tired, but military personnel are trained to run for miles with much heavier equipment. The ai could still use work, their detection system is most certainly unrealistic and can be very…
