Marcin Trojanowski (aka trojanuch), lead gameplay and difficulty balancer for MISERY, now has a son!
This is great news (and perfect timing). With Marcin recently married and now a full fleshed parent one could think that MISERY will face a decrease in updates and patches. Think again!
MDT consists of a bunch of cool and talented modders and even Marcin is working on a cool update as we write this. Arsenal modder _xXxTWiST3DxXx_ has also re-joined MDT, after a hiatus, which is awesome. Rest assured that we have good things coming for you in a very near future.

Here's how we like to spend our weekends:

Yeah, that notorious license to make S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 ...
Let's begin by saying that it is honestly quite flattering that we get this huge amount of encouraging and supportive comments. Who wouldn't love to see a S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2, right?

Several people have asked us if there are any news regarding our interest in acquiring the license from GSC Game World to develop S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2. While MDT would love to pursue this passionately and won't deny an honest interest in taking on such task, we simply lack the resources at this point. A commercial license for the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. franchise is not something that is simply acquired, not to mention that the brand copyright itself is enshrouded in blurry mist.
Some might claim that BitComposer would be able to give us such license, but even their ownership, and the extend of their copyright, is officially disputed.

While we have little doubt that MDT would be capable of taking on such task as developing a S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 it would require a great amount of resources and investments at this point, if we are to establish the production studio needed for it.

So, while we have a passive approach to the idea of pursuing a license to build the game, the idea itself is something that we will continue to dream about.

If and when new light is shared on the topic of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. copyright we would love to hear about it.

As you probably know MDT has formed an actual company:
Misery Development Ltd (UK)
This company consists of core staff and lead developers from the MISERY mod development team.
This section of MDT is working full time on The Seed.
The remaining section is still spending countless hours on passionately updating and enhancing the MISERY mod in an attempt to polish and tweak the game as we promised you we would.
United we form a large, and international team of creatives.

The courage to actually take this step and form a company was conjured by the immense amount of support and encouragement in this thread. That whole thing sparked a hope in our ideas of constituting something even more solid. Thanks to everyone who placed a vote in that poll, injecting a hope in our passionate hearts.

We recently surpassed 3,000 likes on the MISERY Facebook page.
It is wonderful to feel and experience this amount of interest in our activities and we shall do our best to honor them. Feel free to track our progression on other media as well:

Congrats Misery Team! Your work has a nice write-up in the May US PC Gamer. It's #1 in the "Free Games Stuff From the Web" section.

They do respawn, but if you are unlucky you may just end up not finding anything; in patch 2 their quality/spawn rate was reduced drastically it seems, because i waited, several blowouts occured and i scoured zaton and found only 2 artifacts, but luckily good ones(maybe because i had seasoned whatever its called achievement that makes you find good artifacts more often): an eye in the boiler anomaly and a shell in scar anomaly, the rest of the places were empty; so pretty much expect no artifacts in most anomalies for days to come
I usually do an artifact run after every blowout (dredge station, boiler, burning farmstead, swamp, oakpine, claw, circus, iron forest, scar, ranger station, back to Skadovsk), but many of my runs were fruitless( didnt find anything or just found 1 or 2 cheap artifacts )
In the earlier patch, i even found artifacts at the ranger station, near the tunnel where the heli crashed in the swamp and near kruglov antenna, so i found artifacts out in the open, not just in anomaly areas

They do replenish, it just takes ages and seems to be random (As in, they respawn in random anomolies). I Roleplay a rookie stalker based out of Skadorsk, and Artifacts are my primary cash flow so I would know if they never respawned. But yeah, hunting for artifacts solely for money means that there will be lean times ahead.

I was just wondering where the unique weapon text file is. I want to compare the damages between the Alpine and the Black Kite. I know they both say they do the max amount of damage, but I'm still wondering if the Black Kite does more damage and the damage goes beyond the bar.

To look at the 'Alpine's' damage characteristics, open up 'w_sig220.ltx' and scroll down to 'wpn_sig220_nimble'. Under it you will find the damage it causes per shot, with and without the silencer attached - ( 0.89 attached, 0.9 silencer free ).

The regular Black Kite does 1.0 in damage per shot ( one full bar ), and Nimble's version ( the Steppe Eagle ) does the same amount, just has better accuracy.

The differences between these are rates of fire, item weight and damage of course.

These settings can always be found in the weapon .ltx files located in the 'gamedata\configs\weapons' directory.

Go to gamedata\sounds\characters_voice folder and either put it somewhere else for a back up or delete it. Should restore it back to English. It worked for me :)

Survivor horror at it's finest, although slightly flawed. Once all the kinks are ironed out, this will be the definite Stalker: Call Of Pripyat mod.

With the intention of being realistic, it ends up feeling like its "overly" realistic, while some aspects make sense, others do not. The idea that a trained military sniper gets too tired to even move after WALKING about 100 yards, only carrying 10 pounds of equipment, seems silly to me. A normal person might get tired, but military personnel are trained to run for miles with much heavier equipment. The ai could still use work, their detection system is most certainly unrealistic and can be very…
