****. I just agreed to go hunt it down just before I left my game last. I'm a USS Sniper. I may be screwed.
Stay close to the fences and buildings for cover as you circle around the beast. And yes, you might want some close encounters weaponry
brah, go to a safe distance and a single shot from your bolt action rifle in the head will do the trick (not too close for the chimera to sense you but not too far because the rifle isn't accurate enough)
Im a sniper. Single shot didnt work for me. It kept standing up and sitting down... And was always facing a way from me. What I did was got in the little building without a roof right infront of the stage.
maneuver around and aim at its face; make sure you get it right (it will work i guarantee)
PS a scope would be helpful
Slowly pick him off from a distance, if he finds were your at, run until he lost track of you.
Then just rinse and repeat
And i suppose you gun is weak.

Weird. I've met it already in-game. There was not enough time to look at it's face, but I think that it looks kinda different.
I will try to re-do that quest as soon as I will get better equipment and I'll make a photo of it, if it will look different. Maybe it was just my first thought when I was in panic... :D
It is so scary and ugly :).
Even bullets can't take it, they break and splint in every direction after they left the barrel :).
This looks baddly and unrealistic for me you know. You could change anim in next patch.

In Trapper's quest I climbed on cystern and waited for it. Bastard went of to hunt scared dog. Then I filled him with couple of bullets and it escaped... INTO MINEFIELD set off a couple of mines... AND ******* GOT AWAY ALIVE.
How this thing can be so sturdy. Luckily in Pripyat one shot from coilgun is enought.
