Full concept modification of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Call of Pripyat that touches every game aspect including textures, sfx, music, weapons, AI, items, weather difficulty and much more.
1)
NPC's are looking too comfortable in the vanilla version of the game in my oppinion. Tanned and clean skin, shaved, healthy looking. I have changed this in MISERY and you will now find that most are letting their beards grow, may have facial scratches and generally have more pale skin to resemple that they suffer from fatique, lack of food, possible illness, fear and general discomfort. This kind of NPC redesign is going to enhance the feeling of being at a miserable place.
2)
Expansion of attachments for the vanilla weapons. Expecially the possibility of sound suppressors has opened up.
Also most new weapons included in MISERY can use one or more attachments (and are fully upgradeable).
3)
During my reevaluation of the arsenal prices I took many aspects into consideration including availability, attachments, handling, effectiveness, reliability, popularity and origin of each weapon. I am very open to suggestions regarding the weapon prices as there are soo many things to take into consideration for each one of them. The most expensive of each category is not necessarily the most favoured as there can be huge advantage in using and maintaining a budget firearm. This price list is likely to be updated before release...
4)
Stalkers of the Zone are wearing body armour, suits and clothes with a colour scheme that resemples the actual environment better. Less 'fresh green' and more 'yellow illness' in the looks. Gaskmasks has been toned to a darker variant and different kinds of head camouflaging are now used by the Stalkers in particular. Like this black facemask used by the russian and ukranian special forces in real life. I find it to be suiting as face camouflage since it is easily attainable and effective.
Cool!
N.Aaroe, I love you for those awesome new facemasks! =D
There is some price mistakes maybe. For example, why an AK-74 is more expensive than an Abakan ?
You must misundersand, the Abakan is 7000 and the AK74U is at 3300
AK74 is still more expensive, he didn't mean AK74U
Sorry, didn't see that.
The Abakan has no automatic fire mode making it less favoured by the majority and therefore less expensive. Both can use all attachments
The Abakan has a Full Auto fire mode however it fires a smaller caliber (5.45x39 mm) unlike the Ak-47 (7.62x39 mm).
Yeap AN-94 is use 5,45 x 39 mm round the same rounds use Ak-74 but what is the point of mention caliber of this gun? dxD The most important thing is that Abakan got full auto fire mod. He even got 2rd fire mode and is more advenced than Ak-74 so maybe should be more expensive?
In I Work Alone, and presumably Misery, the AN-94 doesn't/won't, because in real life the AN-94 has a rather strange automatic fire mode that no game that I know of has been able to accurately portray (it fires the first two shots in 1800RPM and all shots after in 600RPM). I'm pretty sure most games have a scripting conflict with this, so it makes more sence (to me) to just have the 1800RPM 2-round burst firing mode, rather than the 600RPM full-auto.
A different question I have for N. Aaroe is why not just make the Kobra a separate model from the AK and have it as another attachment? It doesn't seem reasonable to have AK-74s custom-fitted with the rifle and not have them be removable.
Battlefield 3 has successfully implemented the full auto/2 burst for the first two shots feature of the AN-94. And even without that feature, the AN-94 is by far a superior rifle to the AK and thus would be more expensive. Especially since full auto is not a priority in most engagements since it's only effective to around 50 meters
MGS4 has the AN-94 as well as the proper 1800/600RPM weapon system.
Uh, Stalker did portray the Abakan realistically. Vanilla ShoC, CS, CoP, all three had the funky fire mechanism thing in the Abakan, if I remember correctly.
Still, it is a rare weapon, and would still be quite expensive due to the amount of effort put into obtaining it.
The cost to make 1 Abakan is equal to the cost to make 3-4 AK-74 rifles. And it is only used by Russia, despite the Ukrainian soldiers being equipped with it.
It may not be common, or well liked, but it is still and expensive and hard to obtain weapon, therefore, it should have a price tag to match. Or at least a larger buy multiplier in trader configs than other common weapons.
I updated the price list (Ak74/Abakan)
haha it's rare until you go to the Sawmill in Zaton and encounter the Ukrainian army zombies
My fault sorry ^^
I'd love to try out a Dessert Eagle! Sweetness ^_^
Thanks for your hard work and making the mod I've always wanted! Great job!
I just now got that pun.
I hope you dont live by the philosophy, the most expensive gun = the best gun. Balance in weapons is key to awesome gameplay.
One little thing I know that it may be really hard to categorize VSK-94. It is pretty compact based on 9A-91 subassault rifle weapon use heavy 9mm round got single and full auto fire xD But it was developed to replacement for VSS so maybe it should be a sniper rifle?
But I think part of the reason why the 9A-91 was so attractive in the first place was that you could simply take off the scope and suddenly you've got a fantastic spec-ops carbine. The close-range character out of the three starts off with a VSK. I don't think we need to inference much more from there.
The VSK94 could be placed in either category but it really is easily handled and being a silenced light weight rifle I decided to place it in the lighter category. The specific model included is highly personalized in terms of look and feel. It's like it wants to be a close range spitter
Yeah it is pretty light elite weapon. I only hope that we will may attach PSO scope on it ;)
What a differance a beard makes eh :)
I do like beards in-game, but Pilot deserve that fresh, shaved look, the scar looks nice
I'll keep the medic shaved but Pilot is often outside leaving a scar and a somewhat controlled beard. Sultan has damaged his right eye...
everytihing looks fking outstanding
Why on earth is the M16 an Sniper rifle?
It has been configured to have either single shots or burst fire mode.
Also it has a sniper scope permanently attached making this m16 variant much more a sniper rifle than a assault rifle. But I understand why you ask
DMR, man. AR-15 has always been a very stable firing platform. The other thing is that it's a cool niche historical weapon to add in. This is the M16A1 variant of the rifle, which was used in the Vietnam era, and sometimes they would throw it on semi-auto and bolt a scope onto the top of it.
Nice change (in terms of the different NPC's looks)
holy **** looks like im gonna have a problem here. i'm a sniper in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and these snipers are pretty exspensive.....oh holy ****....looks like i'm gonna have to sell some of the bandits **** again..
Nah. If you pick the Sniper class to start, your starter gear includes a bolt-action rifle in 7.62. It might not be the best thing on the planet, but you'll be punching bullets through faces from the get-go.
Agreed. Only thing is the m1891 as entry gear is without a sniper scope to accompany the rifle. As a USS sniper that scope could be the obvious goal for your initial exploration and/or trading.
Oooh, really? Damn. Snagging that scope must be important. How difficult will one be to locate? I imagine that PSO scopes and the like will be somewhat more common due to the ubiquity of the Kalashnikov, but we can't really attach one of those to something as ancient as a Mosin-Nagant, can we?
For Mosin Nagants you should have a few models. The 91/30 and the 44 carbine. The rifle uses the PU scope normally so that could be another item. Another good sidearm is the Nagant 1895 revolver it uses a 7.62x38 round and because of the way the revolver is built it can be supressed. It would be a very good old soviet weapon to throw into the game. If you're gonna make an m16 a sniper rifle you might as well throw in an AR10 (ar15 in .308)
With pricing the 91/30 in the US cost around 100USD and the nagant revolver around 120 with prices converting to rubles at 3000 and 3600ru respectively. With the weapons being more available in the zone (as a former soviet sphere area) i think they should probably be around this (given the tough economy of the zone this will offset their "availability")
Where is my beloved LR300?
It's there. Look under SMG/Carbine. The LR 300 is built as an entry-level weapon for close-quarters battle. That's why it's compact, but tough and easy enough to fire on full-auto. Thing less "M16" and more "M4". It's essentially a souped up, kickass version of the latter, which is a carbine.
If I may add my 2-cents on the weapon prices and attachments... I really like the idea of technical accuracy over gameplay balance. Obviously, lower-teir STALKERs should get worse gear, from a price and performance standpoint. But there is such a variety of weapons here, that balancing weapon stats shouldn't be such an issue.
I honestly think that the best way to do this is to make the weapons very accurate to real life- even though that will make some very similar- and set prices and availability at a vaguely "realisic" level. Then take data from the BETAs on which guns people prefer, and make those more prevalent or more expensive.
In the end, you could see that the M16 (let's just say) wasn't well liked. Say that people prefered the M4 instead. You could drop off the number of M16s found on veteran STALKERs and reduce the value of it overall. Then boost the value of the M4.
TL,DR:
More realistic add-ons, stats, costs, and availability of weapons. fine-tune the later two through beta research as to player preferences.
So wait a minute. This "Obrez", the cut down Mosin Nagant, why is it under "Shotgun"? Is it because the recoil, combined with massive power, manual action, and lack of ranged accuracy essentially make it a sawed off pump-action shotgun?
Exactemundo (if we change 'pump-action' to 'bolt-action')
OK, cool. Was just wondering. If I run a Sniper I might want to keep one on me for ammo compatibility.
Good idea. I just did the exact same thing last night and found myself to be well equipped and didn't even have to manage two types of ammo
Can i just ask? is there going to be an install wizard? because that would be really nice.
Planned, not promised
I like your idea, thanks
