I speak on behalf of the MISERY dev team when I say that we love GSC.
This company is critiqued on a daily basis for its buggy Stalker series that leaves much potential for further improvement. But we couldn't have all this fun without GSC and we like to think of the official S.T.A.L.K.E.R. releases as unpolished gems.

As mentioned earlier:
"GSC is the Easter Bunny - we are simply painting his eggs"

We love S.T.A.L.K.E.R.
We love the inspiring, devoted and supportive community that grows from it.
We love our modding.

Let's share a moment to thank EVERYONE who did something to support the ever so devoted modding teams and their mods.

At least, they had the excuse of being a small Eastern studio. The same cannot be said of lots of big Western game companies, which not only keep releasing buggy games but won't even allow the fans to fix them.

Remember the times when we asked ourselves if STALKER was going to run on our GF4 cards and whether we should have bought a FX card? Good old times...

Also, from a game that was meant to be released in 2003, there are game studios nowadays that can't even deliver half of the stuff GSC did with S.T.A.L.K.E.R.:

Special Features:
- Gigantic game world of the zone
- Free non-linear exploration
- Vast outdoor and indoor areas
- Constantly changing world of the Zone and unique life simulation system
- Unique types of weapons and enemy impact
- About 30 types of weapons upgradable
- Strong non-linear story line with 8 different endings
- Original creatures and their abilities
- Realistic AI and life simulation of game creatures and characters
- Trade of weapons, artifacts, equipment
- Anomalous zones, generation of events, quests, artifacts
- Photo-realistic graphics and natural weather effects
- Realistic interactivity of the game world
- Endless replay-ability owing to unique life simulation

In early 2000s, a group of young people had a vision. To bring all the above into a game. Now, tell me, which million dollar game studio tried something like this?

Don't get me wrong, Stalker is probably my favorite game series ever, but the world wasn't that big and the AI wasn't that amazing in the end.

MemoHK May 1 2013, 5:21am replied:

For a game that was supposed to be released in 2003, SoC levels were more than enough and the AI wasn't that good because they had to make it playable. They said that the AI in it's original form would have made possible that other NPCs finish the game before you. Now, you wouldn't want that, do you?

The game was Freaking awesome and for that time of 2003 it was almost THE game. But now it isn't THE game anymore, sure it is a lovely game but it should have a nice overhaul. Sure this kod gives a nice overhaul an serious good one, but a new stalker with this elements of the mod would be a serious cash cracker and the people will love it!

To be short: Get this team make a full new Stalker...

The first time I played SOC I could not believe how hard it was. It seemed to go on for ever as well. Brilliant game I fell in love instantly. I cannot recall my first play through on hardly any games, let alone want to play them for the next few years!

Thats the thing about stalker, you would think it is trash but when you play it you get hooked. It is like a fine woman, you love her even with all her imperfections.

AFellowStalker May 1 2013, 2:56pm replied:

Supposed to release in 2003, but it had more years to continue to develop. By the time it was released, it was fairly standard. Also, the only thing we know about it before was that a dev said it could finish the game before the player. We have no other proof.

The only way Crysis is better then STALKER is in terms of gfx. Outside that it's similar or worse then STALKER. And I'm speaking of the early Crysis games, starting with C2 they're nowhere near as good as STALKER, just another tunnely CoD clone.

Retail releases that include the MISERY mod content?
That won't happen anytime time soon but professional game developers are welcome to contact whatever modding team that they find an interest in and suggest a form of cooperation.

Wow, this mod deserves it a lot.

I have also don't forget the moments in MISERY. It is balanced and realistic., this is the most important thing for a STALKER mod imo.

I love it to sneak from the back of beyond to the Skadovsk with an half stat Health bar and without any medkit and only 20 rounds in my AK to save my loot and *** from some bandits. I´m impressed.

GSC, for the love of the game! The world needs more "Good" Russians and not stereotypical "Bad" Russian guys in games and in movies.

Its been a please working on Misery (although I am just a small cog in a very Large machine)and I know that there are still plenty of good times in store for the future! Well done team!

The cold war is over. Russia no longer spends as much money on its Militarization of the country because it is no longer fighting a "Cold War".

Where as The United States of America still continues to see the Russian Federation and her people as a bunch of "Evil" Russian Soviet bad guys who want world domination and have no good things about them. That is why even in popular culture such as Movies and Games 9 times out of 10 Russia or Russians will be the "Bad guys".

This kind of thing only makes me get ahead of myself. :P 2.0 isn't even out yet and I'm thinking of all the wonderful things that could be done for 3.0 to truly expand and bring all of the Zone to life like never before. For me that speaks wonders about the work that has been put into this mod: I now see it as the definitive way to play CoP and experience the Stalker universe. I just want to see more until the whole Zone is complete! :p

Although we don't do this mod for the sake of popularity, reviews or any economic gain we feel greatly motivated by the fact that ModDB staff chooses to reward our work and development with such prestigious award.

The Wally trophy broke his legs on his travel across the earth which may be symbolic to the haters of this mod. But we feel honoured and hugely motivated by the extreme amount of support that we receive on a daily basis.

This trophy credits EVERYONE who has supported the MISERY mod.

Be it motivational comments, tips and ideas, research, beta testing, feedback, sub-mods or actual development participation - this trophy is for you! You know who you are and you know how much you deserve this.

The MISERY Development Team thank you all.
