I know that one of Misery's main features is the dialogue from the Russian localisation, but I have to say that the Russian localisations of the stalker series aren't really the "true" localisations. During development, Shadows of Chernobyl had linguistically diverse voice actors that more accurately depicted the cultural nuances of Ukraine.

For instance, Loners and Freedom would speak Ukrainian while the Military and Duty would speak Russian. Bandits would speak a mixture of Ukrainian and Russian in a kind of gutterspeak/slang associated with criminals and prisoners. You can see that this adds another layer of depth onto the characterisation of these factions - Duty and the Military, representing the old order and the USSR, speak Russian and use Warsaw Pact weaponry. Freedom on the other hand would represent more rebellious, modern ways of thinking, looking to the West with their preference for NATO weaponry and the use of the Ukrainian language.

As far as I know this feature was carried on to each Ukrainian localisation, including Call of Pripyat. The Ukrainian localisation have been changed from the standard to a patch by GsC in order to break into the Russian market. They thought having a Ukrainian game would alienate them, so they tried to Russify it at the expense of realism. I therefore recommend that Misery use the voice files from the Ukrainian patches to add greater depth and realism to the game. It doesn't just force everyone to speak Ukrainian you see, it just mixes things up a bit so it isn't all uniform Russian.

If you require the patches, I am able to provide you with download links or upload the ones I already have on my computer.

Thank you very much, that is kind of you. This feature was quite a subtle thing that has been largely forgotten.

First things first; yes, I'm a newbie, so hello and sorry for bringing up an old thread, but what plans does Misery have for the future regarding this: can we hope to see this implemented at some point? I am really into S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and Misery is one great mod, but what CosmicDwarf suggested is indeed something that would be very neat to have in Misery.

@vonVince

I will try to do it in the nearest week. It is not so hard, but I won't have any opportunity to test it in game, that is the problem.

If everythong will be done, I will post the link to download here.
