Remove Mask Overlay, Keep Sound | Locked | |

I absolutely love the breathing sounds while wearing gas masks with dynamic huds enabled, however the texture overlays are like trying to play looking through a fish bowl. I've tried editing the various dinamic_huds files to remove the textures while preserving the breathing sounds, but haven't had any luck. I was hoping someone here could point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance. |

I don't know how to change that, but didn't want you to think you are being ignored LOL. What FOV are you playing at? The higher the FOV, the more distortion. There is none at 55 FOV. |

Haha, no worries I appreciate the response. I play with FOV 63 (any larger and I find the arms begin to look odd). I didn't realise that it would make such a difference. My issue is more with the condensation and water droplets that are part of the texture. As soon as it gets a little dark they become incredibly distracting and I'd rather not have to use NV to see anytime I walk through a tunnel or building. As I said before I really like the mask breathing sound effects, they are incredibly immersive. I found a post about editing out the breathing sound and leaving the textures and tried to work backwards from that, but to no luck. |

I'd be interested in this as well, Jasper are you sure this can't be done? |

Uncheck the show helmet hud in the configuration screen. It is under the game tab, top right. |

But doesn't that disable the gasmask sounds? This thread was asking about how to disable the overlay but keeping the sounds Edited by: stupidsexylizard |

I never tried it before, always left the hud on. I didn't notice if sounds remained or not. It's not a matter of can't be done, just beyond my knowledge I'm not a coder. If I was, with my free time, we would be finished in no time LOL. Heck, I would do temp work for team members if I had their regular day job skills and we were not spread all over the world so they could take a modding vacation I still hear out of breath sounds, I guess the mask sounds are so subtle I don't really notice them. I'm wearing a red eco suit right now. |
