NEXT UPDATE
We have more aspects to share some light on and show in public.
At the same time this is our attempt to reward your patience and continuously share development progress with everyone.

Please put your vote to tell us which aspect YOU would like to have published next:
Insight on Beta Testing Reports?
Something about Diversity?
A look at one of the new items added?
Something about Hunting?
Something about Music/Sfx?

If you can't see the options clearly (because of the CSS tweak) just highlight the lines of text.

The poll will close at the end of the week and dictate us what to reveal next.

Looking forward to seeing your pick.
Peace / MISERY dev team

No, we actually didn't have to, Todd. We have our reasons for this :)

Is time to the Insight on Beta Testing Reports.

May 28 2013 Anchor

Well if you have your reasons, then tell me.
This is a mod, not some triple A title.
This secrecy is extremely stupid, and the way you try to act like higher up developers with "TZP" is ridiculous.

And to Darth, how am I being greedy? There's a difference between being impatient and unneeded faults on the devs behalf.

Todd, its the devs choice when it comes to the secrecy. And personally i like it the way it is at the moment, the mod has even grown big enough to beat most AAA games of the generation. It takes a lot of dedecation to get to this level of proficiency and high standards as a mod developer. Cant wait for the next release!

Do you honestly think real developers would keep this kind of secrecy if it weren't for the publishers trying to keep them shut?
Of course not, in fact they would be even more connected with their community.

TZP is just doing this mimicking game because they like to seem "professional", which is extremely unneeded in terms of modding.

Just look at all the photoshops, and the fake game cases, and all the other bullshit.
A real modder doesn't keep anything from the community, they tell the fans upfront whats happening, and don't hide behind these "polls" or "countdowns", because in the end the community is right. Mods are what hold up a ton of games, and trying to mimic a high end developer is just plain silly.

To me, it just makes them seem even more pretentious.

It's a shame to hear that, but like I said, we, the team, have our reasons for that. Like klumpaen said, it's been our decision to stay quiet about certain things. You presume a lot, but just wait and your answers will probably be given in the form of (for you) "yet another photoshop".

Fine, but just know this.
Just because the few people here love the decisions you people are making, doesn't mean tons of other communities like it.
In fact, there are hundreds who would agree the route you are taking is very gaudy and, in general pretentious and stupid.

Do you remember the Complete mod?
You people seem to think in the same ways.
Very, very full of yourselves.

You say I presume a lot, it's quite obvious how you want people to see you.

Todd, one final thing before I'll cut communication with you here:

We've throughly discussed this in a PM and yet you're thinking like this. Just calm down, it's quite trivial what you're going on about. Just relax and await the news man :)

@Luringen

Misery is average at best.

There are many mods that deserve just as much attention as this one. Redux, LURK, and many more get nowhere near as much attention, and where does all of it go?
Towards photoshops, "TZP", "Polls", and hype that goes nowhere.
Face it, you're leading the entire Stalker fanbase by the nose, and it's pissing a ton of people the fuck off.

"Troll" my ass, I don't even think you know what the word means to be quite honest.

@ToddTheLiar: Can't see those tons of pissed of people, just one angry guy ranting in the forums.

Also:

Bullshit all the way. See many indie-games who suddenly got loads of fans and therefore hype, and how immense the backslash becomes when alpha-footage and games does not live up to bug-free expectations, features get cut because they were only being experimented with for a week, etc... There are loads of examples of indie-studios who keep their mouth shut because being too open = being open to backslashes: ZANMGT, The Indie Stone, Fractalsoftworks, Re-Logic, VALVE, and many more. VALVE is probably the biggest example of how obviously a hyped team can not be open, especially with how many internal experimental projects they have.

Because I'm sure you would know, right?

I'll also state this again, this is a free mod.
Secrecy is unneeded.

telling everything fully detailed spoils the experience in my opinion and a good example is Metro:Last Light becouse they showed that there will be costumizeable weapons, some open ground (said in a way that made people belive the game wont be completely linear) and naturally people like me tought that there will be tonns of new stuff too but as im sure you know that is all thats new in that game (and ofcorse the storyline). And im sure you know that game took a terible battering in the first days mainly becouse of this.

and btw there is no need to get nasty. i think the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. community is inteligent enough to discuss opinions in a tolerable manner (no offense)

--

May 28 2013 Anchor

If it's intelligent enough, why do I and many others get stormed for having a different opinions on this mod?
ModdB is terrible at this.

Please don't group the Stalker community in with this site, it's an insult in my opinion.

Also Luringen, are you implying that doing this process is making the "hype" any better?
It's even worse!
Can you imagine the amount of negative feedback at release when it wont meet expectations?

All this process is doing is making people even more anxious, bringing up even more expectations, and ultimately leading to disappointment.

At least with a beta or something, people would see what they're getting, and be able to recommend what we all want.
This community is pants on head retarded.

@ToddTheLiar: You get stormed because you act like an asshole. Examples:
---
This secrecy is extremely stupid
the way you try to act like higher up developers with "TZP" is ridiculous.
There's a difference between being impatient and unneeded faults on the devs behalf.
TZP is just doing this mimicking game because they like to seem "professional"

To me, it just makes them seem even more pretentious.

pissing a ton of people the fuck off.
---

This is being an asshole, and in addition to coming up with naive statements and calling them facts, makes you a troll. If you act like an asshole, expect to be treated like one by the rest of the community. If you can rephrase you statements to opinions, cut all the offensive bullshit and treat both devs and fans with respect, we can have an interesting discussion on this topic, which I would gladly participate in, because I find the topic interesting. However, there is no such point when you keep being rude, come up with things and then blame everyone else for hating you for "having a different opinions" (quoted directly).

Again, nothing wrong with your opinion, you're just presenting them rudely.

Well I'm sorry you're so sensitive.

May 28 2013 Anchor

I've been here for a cuple of years now and i haven got in troube sofar. I had bad responses on my comments but i never got "stormed" they were just different opinions from mine. I've never recived any offense from the other members (keep in mind that tone is had to be expressed in writen from). The trouble with moddb's system is that it only takes 5 people to disagree with you and your comment gets burried and i find that a bit odd (and it sets off many people too).

The "Stalker community" meant that i mainly track Stalker mods (and some other post-apocalyptic / horror games) so i dont know how other game communities behave, i only got a taste from the G-mod community and i must say i was a bit disapointed to say the least :D (however as i havent spent much time around them its just a far feched judge ^^)

@ToddTheLiar: Then you either don't know how to to discuss a topic without offending people, or don't want to (troll).

@darthg64: Stay away from most of the GMod communiuty, it's really bad. There are some good parts, but still mostly crap. Also, 99% of all the new Steam community discussion threads are awful and makes you lose faith in humanity.
