First of all, let me say that I LOVE this mod so far and thanks so much for creating it. :) Definitely one of the coolest game overhauls I've ever seen.

I've been working on getting my game to run smoothly because I was having stuttering issues. After doing some hours of research, I figured it out and have stuttering eliminated except when loading a big area. Yesterday, I was able to play the game for about 6 hours straight with no problems. I'm able to get 150+ fps running around outside but I decided to use a frame limiter at 73 to keep it from spiking. Up until now I never saw it dip below 60.

So then I was walking along and all of a sudden my framerate drops to like 10. So I saved and reloaded and that fixed it at first. Then I saved at the boat home base area and quit for the night. Now today when I start that save I have a fine framerate for about 10-15 seconds then it drops down to unplayable 10 fps. I've tried saving and reloading but this happens each time. It happens the exact same way with dx11, dx10, enh full dynamic lighting, full dynamic lighting and static lighting. So I'm not entirely sure what's causing the problem.

My specs are: i7-4790k @ 4.0 ghz GTX 660 16gb Ram (running the game from SSD)

I have my Alife set to 900, objects_per_update set to 1 (this is what fixed my stuttering)

I make sure to set the affinity to one core, then switch to 4 cores each time I start up and I make sure I don't have any background processes.

The only difference I can tell you from when I started the game is that my loot crate has more stuff stashed in it and at the moment I am carrying quite a few items. My guess is maybe that has something to do with it? If so, what should I change?

(I just tested a save from a few hours back and was able to run around and stay above 60fps. So it definitely is something going on with that save.)

Have you recently accepted the food quest from the lost mercs in Zaton? If so, finish it and your frame rate should recover. It is best not to hoard excessive stuff in stash boxes. Money is rarely an issue later in the game so you can by something later if you actually need it. Try one of the tweaked game_relations files and you may find you can have reduced stuttering without having to keep switch_distance so high. That is a pretty extreme setting for only a 4GHZ CPU and a 660. Both variations on the mutant game_relations are available on a survey thread in the forum. Also see my video tips, it's not quite as simple as ticking or unticking options.

Ok, so I got that game_relations patch and lowered my alife to 600 and so far it seems to be working fine. It was running ok even with all my junk collected but I still got rid of some of it anyway. I have a bad habit of hoarding stuff I don't need in these games. Thanks a lot for the help!

One other question not related to performance: is there any file I can access to change the key used to drag bodies? Or some kind of trick I need to do to get it to stop opening the inventory and cancelling the drag command?

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Stalker Call of Pripyat\_appdata_\user.ltx has all the key bindings and is what is changed when you do custom key bindings. I helped someone with this a long time ago and can't remember what fix was. I never dragged much. What is it shift-F usually?

Yeah, it's supposed to be Shift+F. I tried changing the "get" button to G because I thought that would allow me to use shift+f just for dragging but when I did that the prompt said drag was shift+g. I couldn't find the key bind for it in that file. When I use it, it inches the enemy's body slightly toward me but then opens the inventory.

I've used it to move barrels a couple times. It was always quirky. Maybe it toggles, shift-f to grab, shift-f again to release? You don't have anything else bound to the shift key, do you? I use the right-shift to run.

Ok, so what you can do is hit escape to close the inventory rather than hitting f to close it.
