Maybe i'm just unlucky, but aside from a South-African camo-pattern FN FAL, i haven't seen a single good gun sold by Owl/Bonesetter that matches what i currently have. (fully upgraded L85A2, SPAS-12 and an SVD is what i currently run with)

I do have a ton of guns still stashed in my inventory, but aside from an SG550 in worn condition, i dont think there's anything there better than i already have, and i doubt that a worn-condition weapon is a good idea to run with. That being said, i could be very wrong. I got the money, i can repair them easily. I got plenty of assault rifles stashed away, and the camo-pattern FN FAL sounds interesting. (only the ammo is whack, but i suppose i could modify it with stronger caliber bullets)

I only use my SVD when i am setting out into dangerous territory since the ammo is expensive, i use my L85A2 for the less-dangerous tasks (when going artifact hunting for example) or when i'll be encountering a lot of close-quarters combat.

Any suggestions? What AR's are an upgrade to what i currently have?

It might help if you mention your class. Also, what is available depends on which milestones you have reached in the game. Strelok's SIG550 is one of the best once you reach that far in the game. You can't buy it, but will want to upgrade it.

Keeping more than what you need stashed is pointless and can cause crashes. We advise you to sell what you don't need. I don't ever keep or need any backup weapons. If I am playing without buying from traders is the only exception and I save all AP ammo class IV and higher in case it comes in handy and grenade launcher ammo.

Ok i'm a fucking idiot, i forgot about Nimble for a moment. He got me a civilian-version F2000. I took it. Havent used it yet though.

Also i just happened to run upon a group of patrolling mercs and guess what - one of them dropped a modern SG550. So i guess i got what i wanted after all. The Zone has been kind to me this day.

Nevertheless, i'm still very curious to know what other AR's are out there worth my trouble. What can you guys recommend?

Sniper.

I'll empty my stashes a bit then, thanks for the advice. :)

Nimble's FN2000 is the crappy civilian one, you're better waiting to find another. My favorite is the camo version if I'm lucky enough to stumble upon it. The G36 is very nice, but the FN2000 has a working and extremely accurate GL sight. The M209 grenades are way better than the VOG-25's, so any rifle that uses them will do until I come across better. For class IV ammo, the 5.56x45 AP does the job very well and is easy to get/cheapish.

I don't use a shotgun anymore as I never hunt mutants. 5.56 AP works just fine for mutants foolish enough to get in my face. An aimed shot is always much more accurate than one fired from the hip just using the cursor dot. You can one-shot most dogs easily when aiming though scope. I carry an AR and Nimble's SVU until I find one of the better SVD's or later the TRG. The Nikonov isn't half bad if you find one until you can get a 5.56 weapon. I will use one until I exhaust the 5.45 AP ammo and any VOG-25 grenades I find early, before you can buy the ammo.

p.s. You are going to love the re-designed Ghillie in 2.2 :)
