Les Mirables causes CTD Thread - MISERY mod for S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat

Hi, I have Misery 2.1.1 + Armed Zone which work fine. But + Les Mirables = crash every time upon start. Anyone got it to work? Do tell.

Are you installing Les Miserables over Misery 2.1.1 with The Armed Zone, or over a vanilla Misery 2.1.1?
The two mods, Les Miserables and The Armed Zone both change a lot, and might not be compatible. You'd probably have to choose one or the other.

instal armed zone over les miserables. And after that I think you will have to find deagle upgrade file and delte the upgrade line in it. I can't really remember anything more as I did it long time ago. Playing Misery + armed zone + miserables myself.

yeah so it doesn't work. IT starts up, I can make a few steps, but within 20 seconds it crashes as soon as I keep moving. Also performance went WAY down. Like it stutters on medium. This is w dx11 and dx10.

update - Skadorvsk makes it crash. Anytime I come upon it game CTDs.

Search through the Armed zone thread. There was a guy who managed to make it work. I followed what he did. No loss in performance for me at least.

Roughly procedure is this:

Instal STALKER vanilla
Instal Misery
Instal Les miserables(read its readme carefully)
Instal Armed zone, overwrite everything
Then search that thread for the file you need and the line you need to delete. It should work without crashes more or less. Some miserables features will no doubt be lost, but other than that its playable.

Also you need to change your class once or twice and only then change back to your preferred class when you start New game. ANd you absolutely must start new game.

I suggest you reinstall stalker now, there could be some things you done wrong, best on a fresh instal.

Thanks I was beyond frustrated today with it. Is Les miserables worth it?

I like most of the features it has. But I am unsure however how much of those features remained while some files were overwritten by armed zone.

I use generally Misery, Stivaiis tweaks and Stivaiiis music, Les Miserables and Armed Zone as well as the extra sounds which I uploaded. With a little tinkering its possible to play without CTD's. Haven't played vanilla Misery for a long time so don't even know how the original misery itself is played anymore. Just know that the medkits and bandages are complete crap in original misery. Bandages seem to be still complete crap even in Les msierables, but medkits and other stuff has been made better, more useful. I think weapon fix kits cost less and such. Also - The Psi storms are enabled with les miserables which is really great. I havent yet seen a fallout (acidic rain) maybe it doesn't work. Also there's the camera hack fix for the sniper class which I needed really badly. And some other minor stuff.

Overall its worth it for me.

THanks for the reply, I found the deagle line, as I figured it was all along but I guess you have to delete the "upgrades =" part as well? Not just the list of upgrades after "upgrades" word?

I still can't find anything on the guy who managed to get it to work unless it's the guy who wrote about de line above...I don't see anything on switching classes a few times?? When does that come in?

update- followed the steps above and deleted DE line...seems to be working so far. i selected a different class from one installed then picked that class again and started the game. knocking on wood. thx for helping out Frosty

UPDATE 2- game crashes when walking toward the gas station. comes in terrirotily. Can someone take a look at what could be going wrong? Which file/log do I copy/paste into here?

so i buy the custom DE off the "i can get you anything" guy in zotan. It crashes. I take out upgrade line, crash, i leave upgrade = , still crashes. WTF else is there to do?
