After shooting a few mercenaries and bandits today at the ranger station, I ended up wounding a few and then dying myself. I did not however notice any blood spatters following them as they moved off, and wondered do the stalkers/mutants actually bleed like we do?

I've played misery a lot, and i have yet to see bleeding enemy.

I don't think you can actually see them bleeding.Nonetheless, bleed effects NPC's very, very little.Never have I ever downed a bandit by bleeding him out, even after stabbing him 3 times in the back with a hunting knife.(He then proceeded to turn around and shoot me in the face, knives are apparently underpowered.)

Aim for the head!

Thats not really an option when you're trying to stab him from behind a beam while hes facing away from you.Still, getting stabbed three times when only wearing an overcoat would take down anyone.

Is bleeding rate handled by a single variable in the actor files, or is it something that needed an extra script?

Once I happened to fight with two Mercs at the Ranger Station. I quickly fired two rounds from my M14 to the first one's body, but he ran away. Then we hunted each other with the second one. About two minutes later after looting the second Merc's corpse I found the first one dead some 30 meters away. So I think NPCs are bleeding too.

Human NPCs do bleed, but it depends on where you hit them, and what ammo you use. I frequently am able to kill enemies by doing enough damage to them and letting them bleed out, it saves on ammo. Mutants, from what I can tell, do not bleed.

Yes, NPCs do bleed. I have shot an armored enemy with my sniper rifle and found that only some fifteen seconds later do they actually keel over. This scenario is common for me.

Kneeling is surrendering not bleeding.

He said 'keel over' as in 'fall over'. It's slang for dying.

Oh i had misread the "keel over" for "kneel over".

Yeah one more two cents on this - have shot many a bandit to have him strafe over a bit, shoot at me, reload, then grab his stomach and fall over wounded. The bastards bleed like the rest of us :) also, I've witnessed npcs using bandages and seen blood trails from those who have been shot. Normally if you're bleeding next to something like a wall, blood will continually spurt over it and I've seen this with npcs. Like shoulder to shoulder with stalkers shooting bandits and out the corner of my eye I see the blood.

"shit dude, you're bleeding bad!"
"are you crazy? we'll talk later"

4 bandits and 4 mercs just last night. 1 surrendered after dropping his gun(he got hit in the hands). And stopped and almost died but his friend used a 1st aid kit to revive him...and I got a grenny in the face >_>

But yeah good programming here =D
