I appreciate the efforts of the modding team to make the game more realistic by removing combat music, but this is a matter of preference and I do not like not being able to change the music back to the way it was. I also do not like the new ambience compared to the old ambience. It seems the .ogg files in the music folders were simply replaced with new ones, so it should be a simple matter of copy-pasting the vanilla game's music onto the folder to restore it to the way it was.

Problem is, I really don't want to have to uninstall the mod and screw up my savegame to do this. If someone could post where I can find the original game's music folder, I would really appreciate it.

EDIT: Okay, I got impatient and found the files to the original game's soundtrack myself and replaced the .ogg files in the mod with the .ogg files from the vanilla game. The only problem is that now the game will not start and I am forced to end its process in my task manager. I saved the music folder from Misery's modded files, so I re-reverted back to Misery's default music and now the game works again.

Why is it so difficult to get the original sound effects back into the game? All I want is my ambience and dynamic music.

Can you not simply rename the music folder? This should force the game to load the original files, rather than the extracted ones within gamedata.

I am not recommending you do this as I have no idea what the ramifications would be. There are probably many scripts modified so simply renaming the folder probably won't work, but doing so is always the quickest way to 'remove' part of a mod.
