And this is what I was waiting for. Thanks Aaroe for listening to your community when so many other Authors do not.

Ive done some configuring but the micro-stutter still remains, I honestly cannot think it is my GTX 460 when it ran IWA perfectly fine.

Thats not misery, thats a very common issue in CoP. If you find i fix that works post it. I have yet to find one. Some say turning off prefetching helps but i don't notice it. Usually happens when i run or move a bit.

Actually, I seemed to fix it by changing my BIOS settings.

See, I had just built my computer and for the time being im running on a single 4GB stick of DDR3 1600 RAM. It was advertised as 9-9-9-24 timings but when I installed it, it was running at 11-11-11-28, which is much slower.

I messed with BIOS but nothing allowed me to change the timings, so I simply used ASUS's UEFI Optimal Performance mode, and now they're running at 9-9-9-24, and viola, the more noticable stuttering is gone. I think it may be a RAM bottleneck, so within a week ill be getting a second stick, and that may be the fix.

This worked for me, so Im unsure what yours was. For the longest time it was the flashlight that was stuttering me.

Some other "tweaks" that will address micro-stutter (which has been a problem since SoC, especially in heavily populated areas and stems from the numerous DRAM access going on as AI are turned "off" and "on") . . . they're a little more technical, though - If you're up for it (and if possible), overclocking your system will help . . . especially the BUS speeds, as this will speed up CPU, DRAM, SATA channels and PCIE lanes. Tightening DRAM timings can improve things, too.
If possible, setup a RAID 0 or 10 array (10 preferred, and preferred using similar or exactly the same HDDs). It can help reduce HDD access times, and if you have fast HDDs it can greatly improve loading times as well.
Remove as many background apps as feasibly possible - if need be, disconnect from the internet and shut down any AV apps and firewalls also - these can slow down MEM and HDD access times.

True, my comp is.. sad. And I haven't had any crash issues. Aside from the one fixed in 61. Your computer likely doesn't meet the high end requirement deally. My best guess is all of the people with crash issues don't have enough ram.

If that is the case the only way N can fix all of your crashes is to buy all of you ram. And that isnt exactly reasonable is it?

Knives aren't really overpowered. If I stick 10 inches of steel in something's head, I'd expect it to die.

If the knife is now the same damage as a 9x18 pistol shot, that is weak as hell, your knife needs to be good, especially in a game with low ammo, though I just found a ton of PM and AK ammo in a stash.

Well frankly, there's enough guns in the zone that if it doesn't work, they can still refuse to take it. If you step outside for a minute you'll see that at least everyone has a pistol and frankly if you do well, they're well maintained and worth a lot. The fact is that in an apocalypse this would be true, but this is the Zone and while thing aren't perfect outside of it, there are people still living normal lives.

Good stuff N. My only suggestions for the next patch are:

1. remove that annoying buzzing sound, or fix it so it doesn't rumble. immersion killer.

2. randomize the traders' inventories, at least slightly. they always sell the same stuff which is weird.

3. isn't the VSK supposed to be silenced? it's loud as hell

Although they don't make a shot completely silent they do cut out a lot of the noise. Watch fpsrussia's silenced Nighthawk 1911 video on YouTube for how effect suppressors are.

To put it more lightly, they get rid of the sound you hear at a distance. The only game that I think has shown this well would be ARMA 2, but the sound of gunfire is really damn loud in real life and travels far. A silencer doesn't make a gun silent, it makes the sound not travel as far.

Actually, they slow the bullet down to subsonic speeds which removes the "crack" as the bullet leaves the barrel. You still have the sound of the exploding powder and the working parts, yes, but it's still considerably quieter.

Astyr
Astyr Jan 29 2013, 5:16pm replied:

That's not true, a bullet will only leave the barrel at subsonic speeds if it uses less powder than the standard, a suppressor (there's no such thing as a silencer) just reduces the noise caused by the expanding gases in the chamber.

How do i obtain health packs or at least heal myself in this mod? I can't buy any. I barely find any and they seem to heal very little. Sleeping seems to also not affect healing either.

Teemuslayer Jan 17 2012, 2:01am replied:

To fully heal yourself, you gotta use the Medic-services found in all safe houses. These existed already in vanilla game, but being so easy and generous, I don't think anyone really used it.

Also healing artifacts and suits with HP+ upgrades are your friends. You are not really supposed to patch bullet holes with civilian first-aid items, are you?

In this mod's case it's best to avoid battles unless absolutely necessary, and most of all avoid medkit-spamming.

+2 votes     reply to comment
spectre645
spectre645 Jan 17 2012, 9:22am replied:

Ah, thanks for the info. it's just that at the first safe house (skadovsk), the medic disappears very early on in the game. So, i have no one to heal me.

i can't exactly get anomalies that heal yet because i need at least some health to acquire them since i have to traverse through radiation and what not.

And, yes, civilian med kits can't really fix up bullet wounds but the game was designed this way (vanilla) since you get shot and injured a lot. If it were to be more realistic then you would need to add mechanics to the game that reduce the odds of you getting shot. Stealth, camouflage etc. and have drastically fewer enemies or more melee oriented enemies.

Sadly the Mosin sites are still off. The . in the middle of the screen is on. But when I bring up the sights they are high and to the left. If I fire high and to the left where they come up I hit. If I aim down the sites I miss. Every time. Guessing sniper is still out. Maybe I'll try recon this time?
