If you haven’t played 2007’s most immersive and atmospheric shooter, or you’re back for replay, this mod is for you. This is the world of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. like you’ve never seen before, with updated graphics and added functionality that don’t change the original story or gameplay. The game hasn’t been changed beyond recognition, but rather enhanced while preserving the core elements that made it the unique experience it is.

Easy .exe automatic installer, compatible with XP, Vista, Windows 7, 32 and 64 bit. Works with Steam.

Version 1.4.4

This installer will install the entire mod compilation, enable gamedata folder support in the fsgame.ltx file, and make various changes in your user.ltx file. In short, it automates the core installation steps you would normally have to do manually. However, it will reset your in-game settings to their default values.

  • Retail DVD versions of S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl game with 1.0005 (or 1.0006) patch
  • Direct2Drive digital copy with Digital Distribution 1.0005 patch
  • Steam (launch & exit the game at least once, check for version 1.0005 and install the mod, start a new game after)

Make sure to patch the game before installing a mod, otherwise you will see a black screen on startup. To check if your game is patched, see lower left corner of the main menu screen, it should say ver. 1.0005 (or 1.0006). If nothing is there, that means it's version 1.000. If you have a Steam version, wait for it to get updated automatically.

A special note for Vista/Windows 7 users:
It is recommended to run this installer as Administrator (right click the installer file and select 'Run as Administrator'). This is suggested due to issues with UAC and Rights Management, making it possible to have an incomplete installation and/or “leftovers” after uninstalling. Running this installer as Administrator avoids such issues.
It's also recommened to temporary disable Microsoft Security Essentials (this can be done under Settings inside the program), as it will try to unpack and scan the installer resulting in unresponsive system.

Starting a new game is required!
(giving up on your progress is hard but many agree restarting the game is worth the appreciation of the difference a modded game makes).

For languages: Czech, Hispanic, French, German, Italian, Polish and Russian, please download an International patch, otherwise your game won't start: Moddb.com

Just tested on Steam version and it worked perfectly, this is now an officially Steam compatible .exe installer.

Though to make installer work with Steam, you have to run the game once before installation. Otherwise you'll get 'can't detect file path' error.

Make sure to start a new game after installation.

Hi artistpavel. I can't install using the exe of 1.4.1 on the Steam version in Windows7 64bit. SOC runs fine and I did start a game. When I try to install the mod I get the error: Setup cannot detect the STALKER installation. I'm going to download the .7z version overnight but for your reference and for others, the exe for Steam Win7 64 does not always work.

Where do you put the STALKER Complete 2009 Folder. Do you have to save it in the STEAM folder or is it its own entity?

Anywhere is convenient for you, it contains uninstall files and ReadMe, it's not the mod data itself, mod data goes to right directory automatically.

Can I just install this over 141 or do I need to uninstall the former for 142?

PaulDolgov Nov 14 2009, 3:09pm replied:

It's better to uninstall 141 first, just keep in mind this will reset your settings to default, so you would have to setup your graphics, difficulty and custom keys again. This is needed for the last 3 fixes in changelog to work.

Thanks. Also, count me as one of the stupid people, but isn't there supposed to be a pop-up or something after finishing with the "Good" (find out who you are, DON'T join the C-Con) ending? I don't get no such thing. Get the cut-scene, get the credits... and then just main menu. I started this whole story shebang with the 141, finished with it too, didn't get the free-roam prompt then either.

Yeah tried that, well, the sad part for that being that my save is basically 2 feet away from the ending teleport node, and to teleport, I need to be in the Cordon. Would re-installing the mod do the trick? (Got my reasons to not wanting to lose this save and start over)

Hay I saw a few complaints on the installation, so quick question before I go ahead and download, is it updated(so that the install is better??).
Like I'm sure that chances are I'd install and it'd be fine, but offcourse no one wants to fall into the same pit than others, oh also perhaps include a readme containing solutions to some of these issues people have reported to you(but obviously only put them in if you know they work, anyways good job on the mod dude, good luck with the exe), and God bless, peace.

Yes, a new game is required, don't start without it pls.

The only thing with installation is you have to launch and exit the game at least once before running the installer, if you are on Steam.

Wrekker Dec 6 2009, 1:48am says:

Hello Pavel. I don't know whether to post this here or on your blog in the comments, but I noticed a very weird issue in the version 1.4.3. Sometimes when a grenade is thrown into a building or down a corridor it makes absolutely no sound. It also applies to some gun sounds being behind/around a corner.
I don't know if there were any changes in the sounds since 1.4.1, but i never encountered this issue until i installed 1.4.3. I noticed it while waging a one-man war at the Bar, i went to "test" my new weapon at the Duty post and when i was going down the corridor into their hideout, they and me were throwing grenades back and forth that corridor. If you threw a grenade down that corridor, it would result in a completely silent explosion followed by the "stun" sound. Same this was also encountered when I was shooting guys from a tower, they threw a grenade at me, it fell down and exploded with absolutely no sound.

PaulDolgov Dec 20 2009, 6:02am replied:

Which ones, all of them? At least half of sounds are written in the code, they can't be deleted, because the mod depends on them.

For the windows 7(and perhaps VISTA) users out there, I suggest disabling Microsoft security essentials(this can be done under Settings inside the program) and running the installer as administrator.
Otherwise you'll have to wait ages for the installer window to appear.

To install, copy the 'gamedata' folder from this patch to main S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl directory on top of 'gamedata' from STALKER Complete 2009 1.4.3
and overwrite all files when prompted.
