I'm still waiting to start my new job so spent 5 hours today updating to v1.1
There are some big changes in v1.1 over v1.0. There is now a config.txt file that once setup per installation instructions will execute console commands upon launch. These are tweaks and adjustments to prevent in-game setting conflicting with the mod.
Secondly, there has been an overhaul to the HDR so the extremes shouldn't be so bright/dark as many users commented. The difficulty with tweaking this game is that you need to be able to show bright desert, shadowy plains and lush jungle in the viewable spectrum of light. I was able to make tweaks through SweetFX to shadow gamma that allowed me to keep the mod colourful and bright during the day but lift the darkness of the shadows and indoors. Also, the desert should not be blindingly bright anymore - still bright but you should be able to see where you are going!
Let me know thoughts!
great mod ,its weird but could it be the game runs better at 1920x1080 than a lower resolution. i changed it but it could be id have to restart the whole game..
anywho runs better than farcry 1 :/
Hi L3d - the game should run faster at lower resolutions. However, I have heard problems with resolution changing in FC2. If you are getting lower FPS in lower resolutions then check your GPU utilisation in MSI afterburner. It should be 100%. Let me know if I can help at all.
Doesn't have any issues. Adding unrealistically colored lightning won't add 0/10
Hi bloodusckern, can you please elaborate on your comment. If you are referring to the video above, this is an old video for v1.0 that moddb.com staff added to the news post - I guess to make it more interesting even though its unrelated to v1.1. Can you please (a) look at the photos on the mod's homepage and (b) play the mod then (c) take screenshots to show what you mean? The mod is under development and I am open to critical feedback but it needs to be substantiated.
I like this mod a lot, with one change. I disabled HDR in the mod and enabled HDR in the game, which looks much better to me. The HDR in the mod adds too much glare to bright surfaces. For example, sand horizons in bright light are washed out in the mod. Substituting the in-game HDR for the mod-HDR removes the glare without washing out the colors. I tinkered with both Bloom and HDR and found the latter to be the culprit.
Here's what I did specifically:
1. Edited SweetFX_settings.txt to set HDR to 0.
2. Edited the Config.txt file (in My Games/Far Cry 2) to set gfx_Hdr to 1.
Also tweaked my Gamma settings to taste.
Left everything else in the mod alone.
I got Splash Screen error. I restored NVidia's config. Nothing changed. I checked the log to see what is wrong and all it said was "full path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Far Cry 2\bin\"
Help me, please!
