Blog RSS Feed Report abuse Latest News: Anarchy Weeky First Issue! Featuring 360 YouTube Video Spheres

0 comments by SM_Sith_Lord on Jul 26th, 2015

Welcome to the first issue of Anarchy Weekly! Its mission: to bring you the latest & greatest news, addons, and highlights coming from the Anarchy Arcade community and from all corners of the world!

I'm SM Sith Lord and I'll be your host & curator for this wild ride through the metaverse of all human knowledge, history, fiction, and future.

Our first issue focuses on an awesome submission by an AArcade community member, so without further adieu, lets get started!

YouTube 360° Video Spheres

Recently YouTube added 360-degree streaming videos to their service. These videos allow you to look around in any direction as if you were actually there in real life!

Fortunately for us, AArcade community member Oke Doke was able to make a 360° video sphere cabinet for us to spawn these new videos in! Fry has a bunch of them spawned in this parking lot here (above). You just stand in the middle of the spheres and enjoy the show with a fully interactive 360° viewing experience.

Oh, and did I mention that last week Valve fixed Steam's VR mode so you can now experience the 360° videos inside of your arcades with Facebook's Oculus Rift or HTC's Vive virtual reality devkits!

AnarchyTV Live Twitch Demonstrations

The all-new AnarchyTV interactive video stream will be LIVE all-day this Wednesday, July 29th between 6am - 10pm PDT! Come see what it's like for somebody to launch games from Anarchy Arcade as I try to make progress in beating various games from my library.

You can interact with the AnarchyTV live video stream through chat commands, and you even earn AnarchyTV points for doing so! The top 3 viewers with the most points at the end of the day get entered into a drawing to win a prize!

AnarchyTV Game Giveaway

If is good for anything, its for giving away free stuff. This Wednesday I will be gifting my extra copy of WWE 2K15 on Steam to the winner of the AnarchyTV raffle!

All you have to do is join the Twitch stream some time during Wednesday and interact with the chat bot for a chance to win your spot on the prize wheel. (You don't even need to have Anarchy Arcade!)

The wheel will spin at 4pm PDT with the top 3 names on it. The winner gets WWE 2K15 and is invited to be my tag-team partner in multiplayer mode! :D

What sources can you watch video from?
Things like Hulu don't work in Europe. At least they don't work in the Netherlands.

Also every time I see a popular show on CC or MTV share a link to a video/episode on facebook it tells me it's unavailable in my country when I try to watch it.

Will I have the same problem in this 'game'? And what sources can you watch video from? And are the games actually playable in this mod?

(Same problem with Pandora and other American audio streamers by the way and also the same question about what Audio sources there are...)

It's actually compatible with most web-based streaming services by default; many more than the ones I've listed.

If you tell me some of the streaming services that DO work in your country, I can test them out in the prototype to confirm that they are compatible.

In addition to streaming services, you can spawn local movies and music right from your hard drive. As far as games, it is compatible with all non-Source engine games.

Anarchy Arcade is designed to access YOUR favorite media, whether on your local hard drive or on the internet. Because of this it is extremely adaptable and prepared to handle types of shortcuts that it has never even seen before.

Desura takes a couple weeks to approve updates, so you have to use the ModDb download link to get the newest version.

You need to have a public Steam profile for it to detect which Steam games you own. Just set your Steam profile to public, then use this command in SMARCADE to make it detect your games:
getmysteamgames 1

Good news, it seems that supporting emulators is becoming a more acceptable practice. The Nvidia Shield advertises that their device is compatible with emulators as well:

Yeah, there's multiplayer, just have to use the checkbox on the Start Arcade screen. I'll write an article explaining multiplayer soon.

Drop the model's resources into your folders, then use the console command: scanmodels

Now your addon models will appear in your Library Browser. I'll write a complete tutorial on this today.

Isn't there copyright issues with the SNES and Nintendo 64? I honestly thought there would be.

I just found a game being sold on Steam for 20 bucks that has a Super Nintendo model right in the trailer video, so I think I'm in the clear with my free DLC here. :D

Those are just free DLC props for the prototype and are not included with the final version. This prototype is completely free. If they have a problem with me drawing pictures of their consoles and showing them to people for free, I'll respect it as long as they are standing on legal ground. I don't see a problem with it though.
