Agree Disagree

Feels very symmetric considering what conflict this is, and doesn't really feel like anything new, gritty or special. You're better off playing the Conflict in Somalia mod for Battlefield 1942

Review Updated as of April 2019

Good Parts:

Factions – Let’s start with the basics. There are quite the number of teams introduced in this mod. We have USMC, Malaysia, Pakistan, Somalia and many others. The soldiers featured in these are also custom, and that for surely impressed me. They look solid, and surely fit with the theme. I can only praise the effort for giving closer attention to these details.

Vehicles – The mod features new custom vehicles, such as interesting tanks, and of course, the infamous Incredible Anti-Air, which to this day is an overpowered mess destroying basically every time of vehicle. If back in 2016 I got wasted by the enemies even with this vehicle, in 2019 I ended the game within 5 minutes. Welp, I guess there are some issues with this, but in general, good job

Maps – Locations included with the mod release surely give you some time to spend fighting against enemies. Some of them also feature custom gamemodes, which is quite the interesting take over the default Conquest I often see in other projects. There are also custom maps available with this release. Sadly this part is contested by an upcoming negative point.

Bad Parts:

Weapons – While some weapons are ok, I can’t notice the weirdness going on with models. The CAR thingy looks like something made out of plastic, with that glow and model. The scope looks like a painted plastic, and feels unrealistic to zoom-in. Some models look really old, they feel like are taken from some wannabe garbage mod from 2004 or something. I would like to also complain about usage of vanilla animations on custom models, which majority have weirdness ongoing. And of course, vanilla armament is not the ideal choice when creating a mod. Seriously disappointed with this part.

Weirdness – Now, let’s rant about some locations. Some maps have lot’s of issues with them. First up are the control points which are for some reason hidden in the sky for Crash map. I'm going to talk about this location. Next up are the missing ambient sounds, along with the quality of textures on the ground. This is not the only map to have such problems in the mod, and that is quite the shame. Let’s not forget the cannon CPNAME_blabla, a common problem with such strange mods. The interesting feature of this map is on deployment, bots for some reason instantly die, and you can clearly hear them doing so. They also play badly, with me going up the stairs completely crippling the enemies. Nothing else but that.

Interface – While I like the refresh of this interface, I found problems such as flag captures and other details. This get’s pretty annoying, as in the gameplay I died because I didn't know if I was capturing the set flags. Pictures I see in the menu are really low in quality, and barely get the idea how the map looks, and the set layout by the developers.

Final Mark: 5/10
