Hey everyone! That crazy sports/action game Smashball is soon to be released on Valve's digital distribution platform, Steam! Check out the full post on our site.

What the heck does this mean for you? Being on Steam will help you get the most out of your ball-smashing experience in a few ways:

* Easy download and installation of the game!
* Automatic patching will allow us to frequently update game content with new arenas and weapons!
* Wider exposure via Steam means more newbies to crush beneath your iron-clad heels!

For us, it represents a major milestone in our magical journey towards being a fully established indie game. Hey, Valve is talking to us, and we think that's pretty cool. We've joined the ranks of other illustrious mods such as Eternal Silence, Dystopia, and Insurgency.

We're hoping you'll take another look at all of our improvements: major updates to all weapons, three new player models, and two new arenas! We're so proud of ourselves. We hope you will be too.

So when is Valve releasing its... uh... valves? They're working on testing right now, and if all goes well, we should be ready for download by June 11. We will continue to post updates as the date grows nearer.

Here's a teaser - see some recent gameplay with new weapons and arena in action. Enjoy! You can also check our youtube channel for a number of full match videos. See screenshots on our media page!

The Commissioner

With steam I suppose we can expect a lot of little and more frequent updates instead of an entire thing to be packaged up.

That is suprising. I considered this mod as an early beta but apparently you made a lot of progress.

Yes, we've done a lot of work since our January release. Thanks for noticing!

A note: please don't download the installer off of moddb; it's the 0.9.2 installer from January and doesn't have any of the new features.

is it easier than it used to be? i just found it impossible to move about using the swing thing. felt clumpy and unnatural when i used it

Try practicing a little more, it becomes second nature very quickly.

yea it didnt really get me hooked. it felt so awkward that i had to control the length of the rope and when to let go and grab all at the same time. i have never struggled to grasp a games mechanics like i did this one. learning curve too steep to keep newbies entertained

Good for you! This mod really does have a lot of potential, and I'm glad to see that Valve thinks so too. Best of luck!

I've always had trouble with getting into the mod, I play it for a little then I just end up uninstalling it a few days later, the mod still seems great and I will give it another go once it's up on steam. Seems like you guys have made some major progress in a short matter of time!

Congrats guys!

Gratz and i hope if you add achievemnts they are something fun, not some "kill 50 opponents" or "get 100 runs". More sometihng like "smash opponent ball carrier into goal" or "reflect ball into goal with shield".

Well FoF uses alot of community made maps and maybe a few other things. I think steam only allows team made mods. Because they could get sued... But I do wish it was on steam. :)

I was thinking that, actually, because it doesn't look like FoF has plans of implementing a cash shop, undoubtedly one of the worst moves a game can make (for the consumers, im sure it makes creators bundles of money)
