Slums 2 is episode 2 engine`s mod. Nine maps, dark and creepy. Nothing innovative in gameplay, but still good regular shooter.

Slums 2 was created by only two men, who were inspired by Silent Hill, Condemned, FEAR games. Mod does not provide new weapons or some special features.

It was 2010 year when the last version of Slums was released. But today, when i got much more experience in level design and painting i decided to remake first 2 maps from original Slums mod (2007).

The first one map is half remaked and i will proceed to work on levels when i will get free time and inspiration. You will see absolutely new fresh and polished Slums with some gameplay and graphics changes, which should like everyone. Some areas (or maybe most of them) will be changed completely. Also, Slums will contain several new puzzles to solve.

The main goal is to make my mod more unique and far from HL2 style (while using HL2 weapons and hostile NPC`s).

Because it will be on 2013 Source engine you will not need to purchase any HL2 game. It will be absolutely free for everyone who have Steam and installed Source SDK 2013 Singleplayer tool (which is also for free).

O. Wow. Just finished, moments ago. What a trip! Brilliant work. This is professional quality work, folks. Coulda been a level from the paid-for game. Made me work! Never spent so long so low on life and ammo! When the antlion guard dropped, I was on "1"! Only two slight criticisms: Towards the end, when you're finally getting all kinds of goodies, the last couple skirmishes didn't seem like appropriate "boss" levels (playing on normal, btw.), coulda had a few more enemies (and grenades!) O, loved the trains! Also, as someone else suggests, the wrap-up is a bit of an anticlimax. I won't drop my thoughts because I don't want to be called a spoiler and other rude names. O, I don't think is any kind of "spoiler", but if you're unsure, look away.....dunno if this was an intentionally clever bit or just how it happened, but in the one place, I thought I had outsmarted the manhacks, kinda chuckled as I heard them buzzing away in the distance -- yeah, of course I got'em in the face later!

Bottom line -- BRAVO! And bravo again. Please do more!

Im having trouble installing this mod. i open the exectutable and intall the mod to my sourcemods folder and restart steam. Nothing appears in my games list.

The level design in this was fantastic! Only thing that really bothered me in this mod was the low frame rate in some areas and the ending, felt it deserved more then that.

Slums 2 is a fairly short, yet incredibly detailed mod. Gameplay mostly revolves around generic shooting. This may seem boring at first glance, but the general gunplay is from tried and proven Half-Life 2. AI placement is great, considering the cramped setting of the slums. The lack of a story definitely hurt the mod. Adding a simple plot line to explain the strange intro dream, and why the character is fighting his way out of the slums, would greatly increase the immersion. Atmosphere in this mod…

At first i found this mod quite interesting, nice level design, good atmosphere, but after the 5 minute mark I got bored there's no true mission, only shooting combine people like 'Painkiller'. Even then, with 'Painkiller' there were still interesting thing to do like find hidden collectible or get weapons that are interesting I mean, guys who developed Slums 2 you can at least put some new weapons or interesting scripted events which would have blown mind away. Overall it's derivative in nature…
