So, as I was re-making the mod (not completely, but removing some things that were requested by MODDB and also fixing bugs and adding new content. One of the things I'm doing is a complete change of the leveling system, to be like Oblivion. I'm also removing all NPCs as females, since that wasn't very popular)...sadly...I will not be able to finish as my PC died and I do not have the funds to buy a new PC. Luckily my GPU was in warranty, but everything else was really old.
So if you want to donate for a better PC fund, I put that up last year and revived that page today. Otherwise, this mod is pretty much on hiatus until I find funds to get a new PC. Cause this laptop is in noway good enough to play Skyrim, let alone a modded one lol
Or if you are unable to directly donate, check out my Youtube channel (for nature/meditation/relaxation videos, plus my older game videos), which helps as well go toward a better PC fund (google ads) :)
---now for talking about the mod and how to get it--
Thanks to Nowa-ru for sharing on how to bypass mega.nz download limit
Following that, you can get version 1 or/and 2 without worrying about mega.nz bandwidth cap
Now for the mod itself...
If you are new to modding (or bad at it), I recommend NOT installing this as it isn't the easiest mod to install.
Here is version 1 (does NOT include dawnguard and dragonborn additions, found on the download page here on moddb. Its a much smaller file than version 2 at a little less than 11 gb.
And for those who want a complete experience (as to make the mod smaller to upload to moddb, I removed features to make a more manageable download. This also adds a new race, and has some additional quality of life additions and some other features/changes.). It is however a hefty nearly 25gb download, most which are textures and all the new features added.
As an additional warning, you will of course need Steam Skyrim and all DLCs. This doesn't provide...well...to put it bluntly, cracks to the game. This is just the Anime Overhaul for Skyrim, with some additional tools added to make it playable, without much hassle in setting it up
Mega nz now has a pretty hefty bandwidth limit on downloading even though megasync, but that is a workaround with using Mega downloader and following the guide linked on top (which also provides the correct files). Its a legit site, but downloading directly from the link no longer works on large downloads without a premium account.
You only launch the game through mod organizer using the "Anime" profile. You do NOT launch the game through the skyrim client, or SKSE itself. Only launch SKSE through the mod organizer. Again, with making sure the anime profile is selected.
Skyrim Anime overhaul changes the game to an anime-style game. It contains extremely rare, and many custom mods. The original creator is someone who went by both "Appolyn" and "fabiencolombo". The addons for the Anime mod were recently released. They consist of the Dawnguard expansion for Anime Mod, and the Dragonborn addon.
It takes a high end PC to play this mod. Do not play with less than 4gb of video ram. Also don't expect 60 FPS unless you have an extremely good PC
i5 660 CPU 3.3 GHz (this hurts me the most)
8gig DDR3 ram
Geforce GTX 970 4gb
No SSD (probably would help)
And I get 35 FPS on average
As for the mod itself. I can't guarantee it will work, hence why I make intensive use of multiple mod organizer profiles (such an awesome feature to the program). However, the mod was made late 2013 to early 2014, plus my addons from early 2014 to late 2014. This means the anime mod (it WAS made when creation kit was out) does still contain outdated mods and features. However, I've played it on one character for 98 hours so far and it works for the most part for me. The mod adds a lot of monsters, tons of scenery and contains multiple features.
Essentially what it does...
It turns every NPC into a female, adds TONS of custom weapons/armor/items), adds thousands of new enemies, tons of new danger to Skyrim and makes the game actually quite a bit harder and more challenging. It also includes custom quests that you can't get anywhere else, and a bunch of other stuff. It also includes custom voices, and custom combat
Definitely won't be for everyone :)
And if you want to see more screenshots of my (waifu) :P Skyrim characters, or find other mods or read my stories for Skyrim and my shortstories not related to Skyrim (only one story is up so far), check out the official mod page:
And for some setting tweaks...
There is a mod included that slows the game down when low on FPS. To get rid of it...
(your main skyrim folder)\profiles\Anime
and open skyrim.ini and remove iFPSClamp=
I also HIGHLY recommend following this
Especially the optimizing of textures, and some of the shadow settings. This gave me a big performance increase following this guide.
Anime Skyrim Overhaul: Moddb.com
The new Dragonborn and Dawnguard expansions to the Anime overhaul changes Khajiits to an anime race. It also adds many new items, custom quests, and an entire new land to explore. The Dawnguard edition is much smaller in scope, with the only big change being a completely re-done Vampire Lord. As you guessed it, the Vampire Lord is anime-based. The Dawnguard addon however does add a small quest, and some new Vampire based items. The Vampire Lord also has a new re-done skill tree, along with new abilities. Its powerful, but balanced with the difficulty of the overall mod.
For Dragonborn, Solstheim also has been completely re-done. In fact, most of the work I put into this addon went right into Solstheim. The changes are pretty massive. Expect to die even more in Solstheim than Skyrim itself (which is already much more difficult than vanilla)
Here is how Rorikstead and Solitude look in the anime overhaul, along with a couple wilderness screenshots
And here is a video (link) Youtube.com
The overall mod is really challenging, and you can expect to die...a lot. Especially early on. The world is very dangerous, and you need to be extremely careful where you go. There are hand placed dragons (which you can learn to avoid), that will obviously not be killable at a low level. Some things won't seem fair, but as you progress in power, it greatly balances out. For those who find Skyrim too easy, don't be fooled by the anime style in the videos and screenshots, its actually incredibly challenging and the main focus of the mod is more on gameplay than anything else.
As a warning. The mod is also extremely PC intensive. It requires a good, modern GPU. But it however also needs a good modern CPU, as its actually more CPU intensive than GPU intensive. This is NOT a mod for weak or even average PCs I am afraid.
No further updates will be made for it, as its now in a finished state. As, I took over the mod from FabienColombo/Appolyn, and since he abandoned the mod, there isn't anything else I can do without him being involved again. Dragonborn and Dawnguard were things I could finish without him. However, seeing that he hasn't worked on it for some years, I'll just be glad the mod is finished and playable :)
Hope you enjoy the mod :)
