There's no story at all to this mod. It's just new 4 maps to play through. There is scripted sentences but i just mostly chose them just for entertainment in my mod. The player is of course Gordon Freeman. In this mod you'll play through a new location Sky Mesa. I have custom prefabs but most of them i have 'borrowed'. This mod was created all by me. Well after 2 months of working my butt off, i've finally brought you Sky Mesa. I've worked hard on this first mod so plz give me credit. Anyway, it's released so enjoy the mod and let me know if you have any opinions on it. And in general, i have finished developing my mod and have released it. Enjoy my mod all you mod players!!!

Just finished it, okay for what seems to be your first mod. I don't know much about map editing or game design or anything, but here's pretty much what I thought as I was playing it:

At the very beginning you barely have any ammo, which is kind of strange considering how you have tons of ammo for the rest of the mod. That made the first few rooms harder than they should be. I guess the idea was to get the vortigaunt to zap the houndeyes for you to conserve ammo, but the enemies didn't seem to cooperate and my one clip would run out anyway. But hey, at least I got to melee some houndeyes and a bullsquid, something I would never have done in the original game.

Later on, there is a large duct before a room full of vorts, and if you step in the middle or the right side of that duct it trigger some horrible hall of mirrors effect for some reason. Other than that one part the level seems to be pretty solid and doesn't seem to break apart anywhere else.

I also found it pretty strange how there are no grenades in the mod, or at least they are very well hidden, because I didn't find any. They would have been pretty useful for a couple of the soldier fights or the part with the tentacle.

I found the side sequence with the cut enemy kind of creepy, because all you do is find buttons and open doors, and there are no enemies to fight or items to find during the whole thing. And there isn't really a payoff either, all you see is an alien that doesn't really do anything and dies easily.

I thought the part at the end with the gluon gun was pretty cool, since you don't get to use it that much in the original game, and never on soldiers. The tripmines you get at the same time are pretty pointless though, since you don't really get to use them. I would rather have had grenades or satchel charges there.

Okay, the grenades were located in map 2. The duct glitch I could not fix. I got tired of dicking around with it. I tried replacing the floor and it still didn't work. Yeah, the tripmines I just put for decoration pretty much. The beginning I think I went a bit too over the top. A mistake on my part. Anyway, glad you played my mod. Took me 2 long months of working my butt off to issue this mod. Thx for playing saysalla. :)

I didn't really like the ending however, since there is no story or buildup. You run in a black wall and the mod just kind of stops. Some sort of story would have helped, even if it's just "Oh no you got captured escape the lab!" or something. Overall it's not too bad, I had fun playing it.

1. First and foremost, try and work in a little story, even if it's just text on screen. Give your player something to work towards.

2. Work with a standard grid in hammer for the majority of your architecture. (16 x 16 unit grid is best imo) There were a lot of areas where I could see single unit gaps with a sky texture behind them. I can only assume the maps had a load of LEAK errors and you resolved it by putting a skybox around the entire thing. This is not a good idea. It can massively increase compile times and cause the game to lag. (I believe you mentioned one of the maps was laggy for you. This could be the cause)

3. Apply logic to your maps. Every room should have a purpose, even if it's just in the details. Try to work from photographs to get an idea of how to lay certain rooms out. This map pack was just a series of killboxes really. There was no purpose to any of the rooms at all.

In any case, a good first attempt, but hopefully my advise and that of others will drive you to creating better maps in future. :)

A fine half life mod, very entertaining.

Good texturing, interesting level design, game difficulty well balanced.

Can be improved a bit more in some details.

No evident glitches nor crashes during the gameplay. I still play it whenever I have some spare time.

I like it.
