Situation Outbreak is an Orange Box mod about the impending zombie apocalypse. Armed with nothing but a 9mm and a pair of brass knuckles, you must do whatever it takes to survive against the thousands of zombies that used to be your friends and neighbors. The cost of failure is nothing less than your free will. There are no heroes. No single person can save the world and there are not enough bullets to go around. The only thing left to do is to kill the damned, hoping that you don’t end up like them.

The real pain was having to make an overview for each map. I provided sample files though if people want to make their own for their custom maps. If a map overview isn't found, then the radar is disabled for everyone automatically.

But was the radar really necessary? I liked the feeling of not knowing if there's zombies in the next room or how many zombies were coming at me. Maybe add a console command that allows server admins to decide if the radar is on or not?

Is it me or is there a strange white line in the RPG scope?

Oh and is the radar on in infection mode also?

Yes, the radar was necessary. It's pretty unique and I think people will get a kick out of it. Oh, and there already is a console command for server operators: zms_radar ... sorry for not mentioning that.

Look closer. Those white lines are crosshairs for aiming the RPG. Let me guess, you didn't even watch the end of the video. =\

As I said, the radar is disabled for zombies, but yes, it is enabled for Survivors in every gamemode.

Actually I made sure to watch the video closely so that I would be sure to get everything straight ;) (2-3 times)

I'm glad there's a command:D Although to me personally the radar sounds like its going to hurt the zombies alot on infection mode :( I mean what happens if the zombies are trying to setup and ambush the survivors will see them

As for the white line I did see that it was the crosshairs at the end of the video but I wasn't exactly sure. Maybe get rid of the crosshair when your not aiming with the rpg that way you have to look down the scope?

The range of the radar is only about 50 feet in all directions, so it shouldn't ruin gameplay very much. Again though, there's always the option for server owners and operators to disable it.

I think we'll keep the white crosshair on the RPG even when you're not using the ironsights just to get the attention of the user. Who knows, maybe they'll figure it out for themselves.

can you create a story with different choice.... (i dream)

and the hero can set traps? or on the card there should be pieges

Please change the melee swing sound maybe? It sounds like the crowbar all the time and thats slightly annoying for me..

What do you suggest though? It's an appropriate sound that fits most all melee weapons, which is why we haven't changed it.

i have to agree with .echo the crowbar sound is appropriate for all melee weapons. besides i like a little hl2 in my mods.

* Newly submitted contest map zms_sv_winter, by Samuli "SJ" Jääskeläinen.
* New map overview/radar system that tracks players and NPCs.
* New weapon: brass knuckles.

* Fixed death messaging system that tracks NPCs as well as players.
