So far progress on the mod is going pretty well and I should have the next version (Featuring Rheinland) going live in a week or two.
While I am able to reuse some of the TEC voices, and can also get some generic stuff from other places I really would like to have a decent variety of voice actors for the various factions and ships. Especially for the ACE pilots.
In fact I'm thinking of putting into place a random spawn-like system so that when you build a Valiant Defender for example, it will select from say 1 of 3 entities which are identical apart from the voice files.
To do this I need to source some people who are interested in providing voice talents.
While I am a decent enough voice actor myself and will probably do a few Bretonian and maybe pirate voices, I don't want everything sounding like me =P
So, for any one interested here is what I'm looking at:
I am mostly focused on the 4 main houses at first, so I need both male and female voice actors for each.
For Liberty any variety of American accent is fine. Being that Liberty is based off the USA even a few other accents are fine really.
For Rheinland I need people who can either imitate a really good German accent or even more desired people who speak German and English and thus have a natural German accent. (I've also got some voice files from COH I can use, but some custom ones are pretty vital)
Bretonia is easy as nearly anyone can imitate an English accent. Being that they're based on the UK/England, Scottish, Irish, Welsh, Canadian and Australian are also acceptable in my mind.
Kusari is the hardest as I need Japanese accents. I only really know Chinese people and their accents are very different. I'd prefer to have authentic or at least really good imitations. I'm not sure if there are any Japanese fans of Freelancer (that can also speak English) but I sure hope I can find some.
Corsairs and Outcasts being originally from the Hispania Sleeper Ship means a few Spanish or south American accents would be great, though I can also work in other accents as these groups have integrated other nationalities into them as they've grown.
If anyone wants to contribute then send me a message (preferably also mentioning which faction you can voice) also if you know anyone who would be able and interested in helping pass on the info to them!

'FE4RWULF' has recently recorded some voice files for the Liberty Valiant Defender ACE and I'm in the process of added it to my internal build.
An expensive mic is not needed, the voices are being put through filters to sound like radio chatter anyway so at the end of the day a cheap mike doesn't sound much different from an expensive one.
So as long as you can speak fairly clearly and not too fast then chances are you can really help this mod out a lot!

I'd love to do what I can to help with the project. I can do Libertonian voices, a range of Bretonian voices (Maori, AUS, Irish, N-Irish, various English/Welsh) and maybe some Rheinlander voices.

My only concern is what format you'd want the audio files in.
Ok sounds good. Audio format isn't a big deal. Just wav is fine as I have my own audio editing software for conversion and adjustments.

I just fell across this mod the other day getting back into Sins of a solar empire after a while of not playing it. And I absolutely loved starlancer I played it to death as a kid. Got freelancer a while later too. I can do some voice acting for you I got an alright microphone that sounds pretty clear. Its a headset mic on a Logitech G230 and its got a pop filter I put on it to reduce popping sounds. I'm a New Zealander so I can do Bretonian and liberty voices. Though I can do a better American accent than I can English. Though if you want one Bretonian ship with a New Zealand captain I can do that. A New Zealand accent is quite different than an Australian accent by the way. I can do a couple of other ships putting on accents or different tones of voices as well. I was a Bass singer in a school choir when I was there so I can do some deep voices if needs be. I can also record straight to .ogg. Unless its easier to save it as .wav for your editing software.
I might have a way that will make it a tad easier to find some Japanese voice actors too. The star citizen forums will have some long time fans of the series. As star citizen is in the same universe as freelancer. All being made by Chris Roberts and all. Forums.robertsspaceindustries.com. So if you go down to the "Other discussion" area at the bottom you can probably plonk a post describing this Mod in there and you might be able to scrounge a Japanese voice actor or two. I wouldn't post it in the main sections at all as it will likely get deleted and other members would probably critize you for doing so.

I can definitely use some more voice actors, so if you want I can get a Liberty script for you. Could also probably use a New Zealand accent for one of the Bretonian ships later on
Yeah I don't mind doing a liberty ship and then doing a Bretonian ship or two. I can do it as soon as I get the script.
In fact if you want I know a few places where I can get a bunch of voice actors. With mic quality not being a large factor becuase of the radio filter your putting the voices through (though I won't pick people with lots of hissing or garbling sounds) and the fact its a one time deal I could get quite a few voice actors. A better shot than trying to get them from here. I could organise getting voice actors from a variety of places online free of charge of course while you can spend more time on the mod itself ony needing to put the recorded voices through the filter once I send them too you. I hae m means and you will still be able to credit them properly as well. I can start by getting at least 1 new voice per ship. And if having 3 voices a ship with the random system I will later open up the search so we can have more than one voice a ship. And Japanese voice actors wouldn't be hard to find either. There's a lot of them doing anime stuff so they had good English though they are usually trying to put on an American accent. It will still take a while to get voice actors but I can get them a lot faster and exposing your mod a tad more.
Though it would be great to hear the finished voices first and have a look at a couple of scripts before I do this. I you would like me to do this for you. I don't mind, I can organise a lot of this on my phone while on the train.
