SimMars is a mod for SimCity 4 taking the game to Mars. It will bring new buildings, transportation systems, user-interface and music and will replace the Maxis SimCity 4 content as far as possible, giving you the feeling to play a colony on Mars.

SimMars BETA 2 brings the mod a step further to the goal. Most MAXIS content is disabled now, although not yet completely. Buildings are functional and growable. There is a first basic set of BATs for growing a city. Transportation and automata have not been transformed yet apart from street and road textures and the bus station as first mass transit. BETA 3 Goals
Main goals for the next BETA release are enlarging the tile set of BATs (mainly RCI, parks, rewards; completing civic & utility set), transforming transit networks (avenue, one-way road, highway, trains, elevated rail, air/space-port), replacing automata such as cars and planes and disabling/transforming what's left of the MAXIS content.

Standalone? More like 'switchable', because only different games (or some TC mods) can be really stand-alone... this mod needs only different saves/regions and a switcher. = )

I got to play and build up a colony of about 6000 before I got a crash. i should of saved... well. good job, I will still complain and look out for that jpg file that isnt there though...

After some work I got it to open. I was able to make a new region. But there is no jpg file to use for the region. What the hell. I am being told to do things in the readme that I don't have. Please set up the jpg file for download. So we can actually play the game with that region, I mean what fun is a mars based mod if it doesn't take place on mars...
