Quenta Silmarillion is a total conversion mod focused on the First Age of Beleriand, based on Tolkien's own vision and work. If you want to join the team, just PM Bercor or Milner! Help is always welcome.
Oh I get it, a hammer as an alegory for ring smithing, clever, and the model is rather excelent if I may say so. But on the point of hammer: Given that no enemies are wearing plate armours hammer of this design is somewhat redundant (it would work just as well as any sledge hammer would, which is to say not very well). Also i see effort in this mod in trying to stick to the logic and lore as much as possible, hence the non-use of plate armours, so don't screw this up with use of such a giant hammer, hammer of about third of this size would be historically much more appropriate. Half of the size would already be somewhat past practicality. (and personally if I was to fight with such a slow close ranged weapon as a hammer, shield would be a must have for me, but that could be just my personal preference).
Yeah, the hammer both reminds of Aule, Sauron's first master, and the making of the One Ring.
You're right in regards to the size of the hammer, I've just reduced it. The head design will remain the same, though.
He will have a shield on the final version.
Well it was more of an off-topic question, not concerning the mod directly but rather the lore itself. See Melkor was of fair appearance in the beginning, but as he turned more and more evil his physical appearance diminished too.
"At the time he destroyed the Two Trees and stole the Silmarils, he took to himself the shape of a great "Dark Lord, tall and terrible". The diminution of his power in this time and his own desire for lordship destroyed his ability to freely change shape, and he became bound to this one terrible form."
Also this quote :
"In all the deeds of Melkor the Morgoth upon Arda, in his vast works and in the deceits of his cunning, Sauron had a part, and was only less evil than his master in that for long he served another and not himself. But in after years he rose like a shadow of Morgoth and a ghost of his malice, and walked behind him on the same ruinous path down into the Void."

Ah, thanks, I understand it now. While what you said about Melkor is true, it's clear that Sauron was capable of changing his appearence, even shapeshifting, during the First and Second Age. For example, when he fought against Beren and Huan, he shapeshift from a werewolf to a vampire. He also assumed his fair form, Annatar, before the Numenoreans and the Lindon Elves, during the Second Age. So, your question is quite relevant, indeed.
I would say that the main reason Morgoth lost his ability to change form was the fact that he had to share his power with his servants, in order to make them strong, while he himself went weaker as the time went on. Sauron, on the other and, didn't had to do this, and only lost this ability after the Downfall of Numenor, when his body was destroyed in the flood.
Sauron?
Yup. The hammer texture is only a placeholder.
looks awesome...will he have a werewolf trait?
Probably two , "Lord of the Werewolves" and "Lord of the Vampires" , though that's still under discussion.
He looks so beautiful...We should go and make rings together and be fast friends. Wait, what am I saying!?!
You wouldn't be the first to think that way...
I would never think such a thing. It would be treacherous to my kin.
I like him! Now he just needs some awesome bodyguards.
Looks great...sauron before he was truly evil...

Ah, so that's what sauron looks like during the first age. Great modeling.
How come Sauron's looks did not diminish under the years he served Morgoth?
Care to explain? I don't quite understand the question...

Well you make a good point there. I always tend to over complicate things though :D Thanks for clearing it up :)
